It’s supposed to be premiering at Venice and word from test screenings is it’s a big crowd pleaser!
ReplyJune 29, 2022 at 6:39 pm #1205000037This should have been a Cannes summer movie a la Mamma Mia. Ain’t nobody checking out for a rom com the week before Halloween.

ReplyCopy URLJune 30, 2022 at 9:02 am #1205000363I wonder if they’re angling for some Julia Roberts “return to the rom-com” oscar buzz.
I attended a test screening of this, it is a crowd pleaser! I bet it makes a good amount of money. I doubt it becomes an awards player though so I’m surprised they’re going with a premiere at Venice of all places. But I guess Venice has been getting a bit more mainstream over recent years

Yep. That was my thought.

How do you see it doing with critics?
ReplyCopy URLJuly 1, 2022 at 9:04 am #1205001439My guess is probably 80’s on RT, 60s-70s on metacritic. It’s a very charming and entertaining movie, but doesn’t really do anything particularly exciting. I’m sure critics will largely react to it warmly but I don’t see it getting the response of Julia’s rom-coms from the 90’s.
Get ready for some reviews shouting out Lucas Bravo though. If it were possible to steal a movie from Roberts and Clooney (it isn’t) he just about does. I just recognized him as the hot french guy from Emily in Paris but he is so. fucking. funny in this movie

Possible 2022 Venice Film Festival premieres:
• ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles
• ‘Bones and All’ starring Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet
• ‘Ticket to Paradise’ starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney

July 2, 2022 at 11:32 am #1205002328I heard Don’t Worry Darling is a muddled mess.
Shocking. Not.

Is it common knowledge? I heard it firsthand from a reliable person who saw it. Anyway, hope Julia scores another hit.
ReplyCopy URLJuly 3, 2022 at 5:12 pm #1205003055There have been some rumors going around that there was some tension between Wilde and the cast (those except Styles obviously) and that the shooting days were a little chaotic. All just rumor as far as I’ve been aware though.
