    Article from Deadline:

“Toronto Cancels Awards Ceremony, Will Announce Winners On Social Media”

Crazy! Didn’t know about this. Guess we’ll be able to find out our People’s Choice winner sooner than we thought – in a few hours!

    My prediction is

    1. A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood
    2. Parasite
    3. Waves

Parasite is a crowdpleaser from my festival experiences and it got great TIFF buzz.

    For Your Consideration:

Best Picture: Weathering With You, Parasite, The Lighthouse
Best Actor: Robert Pattison - The Lighthouse
Best Supporting Actor: Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
Best Animated Feature: Weathering With You, Promare
Best International Film: Weathering With You, Parasite

Wow thats crazy! So it’ll probably be the films that caught the early hype. That means Just Mercy is back on the menu! :))

I would be so over the moon if Parasite won, it could make it more competitive to get into BP and BD and would arguably be one of the most memorable BP nominees in recent years.

False Alarm: the People’s Choice award will still be announced on Sunday like usual. It was the other awards that were announced today.

    For Your Consideration.

    Best Picture: Joker
    Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix
    Best Adapted Screenplay: Joker

That what it says in the article, that the other awards would be handed out tonight. I think y’all just misread it.

If Parasite manages to win People’s choice, I will instantly add it to my best picture prediction, without any question or hesitation!

These Marriage Story predictions are just as pretentious as the people who are positioning it as the second coming of Christ.

    IT IS NOT A CROWD-PLEASER! IT’S A CRITICS FILM.
It is not uplifting, and also not the type of film you can pop in the dvd at home with your family, and they will all generally like it.

Hidden Figures, Slumdog Millionaire, Green Book, etc….are crowd-pleasers.

Marriage Story, Boyhood, Carol and The Favourite are critics films. Not crowd-pleasers

Marriage Story isn’t a crowdpleaser in the traditional sense like ABITDN, for example, but it did get spontaneous ovations from the audience during Driver’s singing scenes and Dern’s monologue, so there’s no reason to discount a strong audience response even if it is the critics’ choice.
