Lil Rel before Daniel Kaluuya?
Lil Rel and Betty Gabriel were the most memorable characters.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 30, 2017 at 4:30 pm #1202398141But Kaluuya and Keener had the most memorable scene.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 30, 2017 at 5:56 pm #1202398192I adored Haddish but I really don’t think an awards season run is happening, unfortunately. Maybe a Globe nom, if she’s lucky.

The season feels dead this year anyway. It won’t hurt Universal to give her a push.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 31, 2017 at 9:53 am #1202398838As much as i loved her in the movie and she was the MVP i don’t think thats going to happen. Mary J Blige and Octavia already have the minority quota covered.
There can only be 2 black nominees in supporting actress?
ReplyCopy URLOctober 31, 2017 at 10:00 am #1202398844I thought she was good but no where near awards worthy … if they separated GG for supporting in comedy and Drama then i would say yes … but Oscar …No

No. Only 1. I said they had it covered, i didn’t mean both of them were getting in. And also notice that i used the word “minority” while you wrote “black”.

Because Downsizing is going to be a ginormous turkey.
And someone from (or named) England shouldn’t throw racist shades at anyone. That place is a cesspool of racists.

The amount of ignorance in this comment is astounding.

Wasn’t England one of first places to abolish slavery?
ReplyCopy URLOctober 31, 2017 at 5:46 pm #1202399091I think Haddish can happen. Across most of the acting categories, but Supporting Actress in particular, almost all the buzzed contenders are in films that barely made any money (or won’t when they eventually see release), and no one outside a gaggle of film critics and awards pundits cares about. Are voters neccesarily going to be putting things like Novitiate (which like 5 people saw) on top of their screener pile?
Films and acting contenders have a visibility problem this year. Too many films are making no impact at the box office, and while it won’t hurt every contender, a few will suffer. Haddish will benefit from being in a big commercial hit that might actually be a fun watch while going through the non-stop depressing indie screeners. haddish is getting write-ups all over the place calling her 2017’s break-out comedy star, she’s hosting SNL…very few contenders in her category will have her visibility.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 31, 2017 at 7:33 pm #1202399116Coming from someone who’s ancestors were once colonized by Britishers and who lived in England for some years to witness and endure racism, the comment is neither racist or ignorant. So you need to fall back and have several.
