But I find it hilarious that you will give Allen money and support his films

Not to be that person but you always can find ways to watch movies for free without paying anything for them. If there’s no money, there’s no support for film.

I don’t see anyone as angry and upset about Oldman being accused of domestic violence though.

I think the logic in regards to it may be the following. This was never some uknown secret, it was a known point in Oldman’s bio and Oldman legally won this dispute. The accusations of domestic violence were never proved. Not only he was never convicted for it, he completely won the custody of the kids, and it was his wife who was recognized as parent not able to parent the kids.  From all I understand both those kids are not estranged from Oldman and have good relationships with him.  So I think these are the reasons many people are not that upset about this particular Oldman’s situation.

@philiphopf Don’t play ignorant yourself, for real. Woody Allen had far more power and influence than Mia Farrow, don’t kid yourself. The issue may have been brought up but I wasn’t as connected or wired in when it came to that kind of news. I wasn’t really focused on what happened with Woody or most other celebrity scandals at that point in my life because I had a ton of other shit I was dealing with. I knew the jist of Mel Gibson’s drunk driving and anti-semitism, although I didn’t hear about him beating his partner at the time Oksana until much later than everyone else, and I didn’t hear his phone conversation with her until less than a month ago. Not kidding. I knew O.J. killed 2 people and got away with it, but the knowledge about the background didn’t come until much later as well. Not everyone is as in tune with celebrity culture and scandals, I’m surprised you evidently don’t know this.

Do you like that this discussion is going nowhere? Because I like to think that we are having an actual conversation, but if you’re either a sadist or just enjoy trolling people by playing ignorant, naive, and/or passive aggressive then I’ll be more than happy to end this right now.

Like I said, as you grow older, you learn more and become more aware of world around you. Simple as that.

No I am not trolling you. I asked a few questions and you always act like I have other motives.

I don’t know what is going on in your life. But even the most casual film fan knows about the scandal of woody Allen. But I believe you.

They were both celebrities, that is a fact. Either way, I don’t think he got away with anything. At least the evidence isn’t there for me. There are too many outside issues with the case for me to say he is guilty. Too much reasonable doubt.

O, and if you want to have a discussion, unblock me like an adult, I made a joke in other thread and you blocked me? I have disagreements with someone, I don’t block them.

If you have evidence that Woody Allen used his power and influence to manipulate the 14 month investigation into the alleged sex abuse, please point me to it.

I just saw the interview with Amanpour and I think Timothy handled the question well and seemed like he took the issue very serious. Hopefully he will answer the question in the future. I am sure he got advice from his parents whom he seems very close to and his agent. He made a career decision but now may regret it. He certainly seems like a good person and very intelligent and will do his part for the Times Up movement. How can you not like this kid.

    He shouldn’t regret it.

There is literally not a single productive thing that could come from this.

Seven pages later, I was right.

This thread should be deleted or at the very least the name should be changed.

Almost everyone in Hollywood worked with Allen at some point. Chalamet made a mistake, I’m sure he regrets it. I don’t see anyone as angry and upset about Oldman being accused of domestic violence though. The Golden Globes and CCA just awarded two abusers and everyone is upset about the kid having worked with Woody Allen. For Fuck’s sake.

Also not seeing these same twitter/tumblr folk going after Sally Hawkins for working with Woody… twice. She’s up for just as big as an award as Chalamet.

Oldman’s domestic violence record is being disregarded because his ex was unstable and an addict. Doesn’t mean he still didn’t bash her face in with his phone and then choke her. But I guess he gets a pass for this and being an antisemite and all-around bigot because it’s his “time”.

Makes a lot of sense! I think this thread should be erased honestly.

Hahahahaha, loving every fucking minute of it.

Frankly, I’m surprised the thread was just renamed and not outright deleted with how much people adore Chalamet in these forums.  I half-expected full-on defenses from his cheering squad.

Hopefully, the pedestal he stands on for playing Elio stands strong (not that it’s shocking the love affair has jarringly come to a reverse-detente; poor, ignorant Chalamet, to make a choice without first consulting his future gaggle of brutally adoring and brutally fickle acolytes), but if the world did indeed spin ’round according to Twitter…  WHO even is left to win that hasn’t worked with a sexual harasser/rapist/lowlife or is one himself?

No one’s deleted the other threads speaking on similar topics; deleting this one would prove how utterly, utterly biased everyone is when it comes to Mr. Close-Up 2018.

    Oy vey…
