Gaga is really winning her 2nd Oscar 😭😭
She should’ve added Diane Warren to the credits. 😭😭

Hold My Hand - Lady Gaga for Best Original Song
May 12, 2022 at 6:00 am #1204949805The singing is once again fantastic, but am I the only one who thinks the drum set is genuinely terrible? The kick sounds so much like plastic. Nice song either way, but not something I will loop for weeks like Shallow.

May 12, 2022 at 8:02 am #1204950007This will open over 100M easily.
Question is how far can it go. Pre-sales have been great. This is a movie that can open over 130M 4-day and have a 4x multiplier with the amazing WoM it will have.
This could get over 400M Domestic only. 300M is guaranteed.

ReplyCopy URLMay 12, 2022 at 8:16 am #1204950024Reviews are out and they are great
Rotten Tomatoes – 43 reviews in – 100% fresh
Metacritic – 34 reviews in – 81 (Universal Acclaim)If this becomes a huge hit (which seems likely base on pre-sales and box office predictions) I think it will have a huge chance with the Oscars
Very likely – Editing, Cinematography, Sound and Song

Other possibilities – Picture, Directing, Actor (Cruise), S. Actress (Connelly), S. Actor (Teller, Powell), Score.May 12, 2022 at 8:39 am #1204950033Directing, Actor (Cruise), S. Actress (Connelly), S. Actor (Teller, Powell),
These categories are a reach
I can see it getting a Best Picture nomination but it’s not a film heavily basking on acting talent or performances! Very akin to Avtar which is a triumph of cinematic experience and technical department.

Mmmh, I doubt that liberal Hollywood will give a Best Picture nod to a recruitment ad for the military. I think Sound, Editing, Original Song and Visual Effects are the most likely.

They are a reach, but Cruise is mentioned as “oscar worthy” in some of the reviews. It seems the movie gives a lot of depth to his character. Teller and Connelly are getting good reviews too.

Expecting a Best Picture nod seems a little hard to predict.
Gaga seems to be getting buzz for Song and Score.

Do you mean this?
Cruise has perfected that little jaw-clenching trick that signifies “This is a really tough call.” He won’t get an Oscar for pantomiming such swallow-your-pride stoicism, though Cruise deserves one for everything else the role demanded of him: If the flying scenes here blow your mind, it’s because a great many of them are the real deal, putting audiences right there in the cockpit alongside a cast who learned to pilot for their parts.
They mean Cruise won’t get an acting Oscar with these roles, but he should get one for the stunts.

Bloodpop is not Mark Ronson. The production has grown on me a bit though.

Hold My Hand - Lady Gaga for Best Original Song
May 12, 2022 at 4:06 pm #1204950438Got to see this last week and it was the first time I cried in the movies in years. I have no emotional connection to the first movie and have seen it once or twice years ago. Easily my second favorite movie of the year so far.
ReplyCopy URLMay 13, 2022 at 1:56 am #1204950786I hate the first movie, but those reviews genuinely have me hyped. Not predicting it for Oscars at the moment though, that seems like a meme in the making, if it isn’t one already.
