Holy shit this will open monstrously.

    110-120M 3day

    135-145M 4day

Due to perfect word of mouth it’s really difficult to predict. Sales are gigantic. But walk-ups are to.

Haven’t watched the film but based on all these reactions and scores, I think it does have a shot at BP.

It’s possible although the film doesn’t have that much to say, much like Skyfall didn’t have that much to say. Oscar voters love films that say something or are about Hollywood.

It was cool, I liked it! Would never say it’s Best Picture-worthy, but there have been movies nominated before that were way worse

I actually feel the movie has a very strong message that resonates especiallly with older audiences: that there are always second chances even when other people tell you not and that you can still be revelant and be your best, no matter your age or history.

Yes I guess. But this film goes beyond on telling the story not just what was happening now in the present but to connect it from both the past and narrate what has happened throughout those years. (The flashbacks were also so well incorporated!)

Thanks for your insight and not posting spoilers, that happens too often here!

I was so wrong about this movie, can’t believe I thought it would bomb at the BO… 💀 the audience wasn’t clear to me….

The like button isnt working for me so.

It never was bombing in the Box office lmao.

Also try and put any annoying or irrelevant account you find and they’ll be permanently in your ignore list lmao. You cant take it out anymore and see their posts. I have come to know.

You can reverse ignore by going to your profile, find “Ignored Users” and then remove those you don’t want to ignore any more.

It was only OK. I don’t think it’s a Masterpiece. Everyone it’s Overacting. I doubt Best Actor. The acting was meh. Overall, a mediocre movie. It reminds me of the awful MCU

Very good old school blockbuster. I’d say Sound, Editing, Visual Effects and Song are locked up. Picture and Score are possibilities. I actually thought Tom Cruise was quite good. I could see him getting a Globe nomination.

Honestly, the Academy should give the film a Special Achievement award for the flight choreography. Incredible stuff with no real place to award it.

    Regarding nominations:

    Very Likely:
    Sound
    Original Song

    It’s a Contender:
    VFX
    Cinematography
    Editing

    Unlikely but Possible:
    Original Score (if it qualifies)
    Picture

Have a great day if you see this!

The VFX membership is on some serious substances if they consider the VFX work in some of these superhero movies that they nominate year after year to be of greater quality than TGM.

If the film had been a Christmas release, I think Picture or Actor noms would be very likely. The audience reaction to the film has been phenomenal, something we have not seen since Titanic. Cruise has reasserted himself as the biggest movie star in the world in addition to being a true movie star who does not take a back seat to the content which happens to many stars of the comic book movies.

Not only that but this movie is drawing older audiences back to cinemas for the first time since the pandemic arrived, something no one else or no other film has done. The majority of attendees have been over 35 which is unheard of for blockbusters nowadays. Plus, Cruise fought for the movie industry by making sure the film was released in theaters instead of going to the streaming services. This film has been in the can for two years now and could have easily been Netflix fodder. Instead. Cruise’s insistence on a theatrical release will likely be rewarded with the film being Paramount’s most successful in ages and probably Cruise’s biggest film ever.

We’re over six months from awards season kick-off so the luster on the film and Cruise’s efforts will likely fade. However if he or the studio want to push the film, noms might be headed their way if there is an appetite to recognize a blockbuster after the lightly seen films of the past few years. There are definitely Academy members who would have no problems using this film to reward an Oscar-less Cruise for his lifetime of work.

The critics love it, the public loves it, it has smashed with a $156M opening (and doing great worlwide too). Is the genre or the release date the main reasons why the Academy wouldn’t recognize it?

    Rotten Tomatoes
96 Certified fresh with over 300 critics reviews
99 Audience Score with over 5000 reviews

    Cinemascore A+

    Metacritic
    78 Critics Score
    88 Users Score

    Domestic Opening: 156M
    Worlwide Opening: 126M
    Total in 4 days: 282M

I think all of this should make this movie being taken seriously.

Right now I’m predicting noms for Picture, Actor, Cinematography, Editing, Sound and Song. Wouldn’t be surprise to see Director, VFX, S. Actress (Connelly) and S. Actor (Teller) in the mix too.
