The film was fine, the true standouts were the screenplay and the editing. In terms of performances I agree with Langella and Rylance, I would also mention Yahya who I would have loved seeing more of.

The thing I disliked about the movie was the ending.

I thought the film was brilliant: acting, screenplay, editing. It’s unpopular to like Redmayne, but he was MVP and the lead.
However, cannot believe Sorkin opted for that bombastic music for the ending. Almost ruined the whole thing for me.

I wasn’t expecting any actor to stand out due to the film having an ensemble, but a few performances surprised me (Rylance, Abdul-Mateen II, Redmayne and Langella). In terms of nominations, I’d say Baron Cohen, Rylance and Abdul-Mateen II have decent chances. Strong was underwhelming, which sucks cause I got him at 100/1. Redmayne is in an unfortunate situation being placed in lead.

I was also skeptical of Sorkin’s chances for Directing, but I’m more confident now.

I don’t think it’s popular to dislike Redmayne. He just appears in a lot of bad movies.

It’s not unpopular to like Redmayne, it’s unpopular to like his Oscar win.

Strong undoubtedly gave the worst performance of the cast.

He was also terrible in The Gentlemen earlier this year. He is such a bad actor.

Regarding the movie, it was not good.

It’s completely lifeless filled with average to bad performances and a painfully lazy direction that resembled a generic tv procedural, which is a drag to them considering a lot are better and more entertaining than this. From the messy and rushed beginning to the questionable ending, it just never gets better.

The emotional moments felt forced and lacked impact, making the whole movie appears as trying way too hard, while not doing enough at the same time.

It was basic but not even popcorn entertainment basic, it was boring with nothing interesting to say except bad jokes basic. I’ve seen better courtroom dramas in L&O episodes ngl. The ending though was truly bad and it decided its fate with me. Jeremy and Eddie gave the worst performances in this by far in a movie riddled with nothing performances. I mean their accents were…choices to say the least.

He was also terrible in The Gentlemen earlier this year. He is such a bad actor.

Watch him in Serenity and it gets worse. Being the worst thing about an already atrocious movie like that is severely bad. The only thing I’ve ever liked him in was Succession and that was the first season.

I wonder why are people not captivated by the warm taste of Redmayne’s rhotic accent, or Cohen’s southern’s one. But whatever. Let’s get real! Of course, so do others. This is winning SAG ensemble (optimistically). The screenplay is god tier. I agree with people noticing the editing. For performance, it’s going to be Cohen for lead and Rylance for supporting. As Redmayne’s character gets an arc of its own, I can see some narrative putting him in the lead instead of Cohen. So, yeah, it’s among three of them.

I really enjoyed this movie. To me, all actors in the cast should be considered in the Supporting Actor category…..I didn’t feel like any one of them was the lead. With that said Redmayne, Langella and Cohen all gave award nomination worthy performances.

I saw the movie just now so I will give my thoughts:

    -SAG ensemble winner no doubt

-The ending really is super preachy and the song is as generic as any other Oscar bait song which may kill some points for viewers

-Langella, Rylance, Redmayne, and Baron Cohen are the standouts

-Editing is superb, able to mix archive footage with the actual scenes in the movie.

-Sorkin shows promise as a competent director

-Best Picture contender confirmed, but I doubt its winning

-Wow I agree Jeremy Strong sucks as it seems he is trying to channel his inner Tommy Chong impression

    -4 stars from me

The cheap ending really turned me off. It’s been a few hours since I finished and looking back this would not be a good BP winner.

Editing is almost locked unless Kirk Baxter’s editing for Mank is on the same level as previous his Oscar wins.

The fact that anybody is getting Oscar buzz for this is ridiculous lol. Rylance is the best in show and if somebody gets nominated it should clearly be him, but he’s not undeniable or anything.
