What Trilogies earned at least a nomination for Visual Effects?

    I know of these:

    Star Wars: A New Hope
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (Special Achievement)
Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi (Special Achievement)

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of The ring
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Dead Man’s Chest
The Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End

    Star Wars: The Force Awakens
    Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

    am I missing some?

I suppose that’s it. Other trilogies post the creation of the category: The second Hobbit didn’t get one, Spiderman 3 didn’t get one, neither did Transformers 2. Batman Begins only had cinematography. Matrix 2 didn’t get any nominations. And I think Revenge of the Sith was snubbed.

Yeah, the new trilogy were all nominated. And sadly all lost.

Rise, Dawn, and War are probably the 3 biggest reasons aside from Infinity War for why a mo-cap Oscar needs to exist. The work Andy and the VFX department did in all 3 films with Caesar was Oscar worthy.

    Academy-Award winners:

Parasite: Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay

Joker: Best Actor - Joaquin Phoenix

    Jojo Rabbit: Best Adapted Screenplay

It really doesn’t though. A Special Achievement Oscar would be more apt and in fact, should have been given to Serkis. There are hardly enough contenders to even fill a Mo-Cap (if existed) category most years and out of them, most don’t deserve any recognition at all. There are already enough performance categories anyway.

I’d argue that The Avengers, Infinity War and Endgame is a trilogy. Lol. Even if Age of Ultron got snubbed.

Anyway, all 3 Iron Man movies got nominated.

I just love movies. And awards.

More of a quadtrilogy if you ask me: since Infinity War and Endgame are kind of like Part 1 and 2 of Avengers 3 (originally they were going to be called Infinity War Part 1 and 2).
