Transitioning from Tv to movies is really hard for actors, especially the young ones. Who, in your opinion, has succeeded in it? Who hasn’t?

Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy began really, really young in British Tv. Both of them found success in Movies. I disagree with you. It’s way easier when they are really young. When you are 40-45 and you are Huge in Tv is impossible even if you are The Greatest Actor: Bryan Cranston and Jon Hamm

Daytime Soap operas had the most incredible actors transitioning to films.

I believe Tom Hanks began in television. But the trend seems to be in reverse.

I dunno. Ray Romano in those Ice Age films did great. Nic Cage got a huge boost to his bankrupt career with The Croods.

But animated doesn’t count. And Cage is a Coppola so it’s easier

    Vanessa Kirby
James Franco (Dude is fucking creep but doesn’t really take away that he succeeded)
    Seth Rogen
    Zendaya
Elisabeth Moss (She’s weird bcs she broke through movie but known better for TV work)
    Ryan Gosling

The thing is.. (take it with a grain of salt) there are certain degrees of actors “brand” and it seems that casting directors/talent agencies wants TV actors to stay in the TV to maintain the competition in the movie side from being oversaturated. Actors with “TV Actor” brand will struggle to broke through into movies because of this. Nowadays its become less apparent though as many movie actors also did TV

He’s a coppola who had a serious problem.

Animated is just another medium. Voice actors can still act.
What about stand up on TV?

The first major TV Star I can think of to make a hugely successful transition to movies was Clint Eastwood, who had starred in a classic western TV series, Rawhide, in the 1950s.

Sally Field also made an impressive transition.

Good one! Steve McQueen did the same with WANTED: Dead or Alive.
