Christie was even getting the speech out of her purse as Cotillard was announced and took a few seconds to process the result 💀

I had to look at the clip on YouTube:

I love Marion being an Oscar winner, but she wasn’t as deserving as some people say that she is the best actress winner ever, same with Theron, while Theron was great and deserving from the lineup, she is not the best winner ever, maybe top 3 from that decade that was not as strong

I strongly prefer “Dog Day Afternoon” and Al Pacino in that film over “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and Jack Nicholson.

I’ve now got another example, which is Ariana DeBose in West Side Story. No discredit to the performance at all, it’s very good. Though with that being said, I personally would’ve given Best Supporting Actress this year to Kirsten Dunst in The Power of the Dog.

Olivia Colman – The Favourite, a film that doesn’t deserve any of its praise and the most overrated performance of the decade, albeit not necessarily bad.

I liked the movie but I second this. Colman’s performance is good and that’s it. It’s not the masterclass in acting people pretend it is just because she was the “coolest” nominee. And definitely not one of the best BA winners ever. Plus, it’s NOT a lead performance. She barely has anything to do most of the time.

Frances McDormand’s win for 3BB is better, but still questionable. Deserving of the nomination but not a better performance than the other 4. IMO, it was the weakest in the category. The fact that she swept for it… ugh. Hawkins or Ronan or even Robbie was more deserving.

Is it strange that I loved Three Billboards more than The Shape Of Water but liked Sally Hawkins’ performance more than McDormand’s?

It’s not, I feel the same way. I disliked TSO with passion but Hawkins was perfect in it.

While I liked 3BB but don’t see anything special about McDormand’s performance.

Javier Bardem for No Country for Old Men. He’s basically just doing what Schwarzenegger did in The Terminator, and I’ve never seen anybody suggest that was Oscar-worthy.

Will Smith in King Richard… he’s literally the same in every dramatic movie and was the least deserving of all the nominees.
