Probably not unpopular but Halle Berry’s Oscar win would have been a million times better had it been for Dorothy Dandridge rather than that Monster’s Ball garbage. What a moment it would have been

It wasn’t eligible, but I doubt she would have beaten Swank.

Yeah if Vikander won for Ex Machina, he win would probably be legendary.

If Mara and Vikander went lead the lineup probs would be

1. Larson
2. Blanchett
3. Mara
4. Ronan
5. Vikander/Rampling

The Aviator is one of the greatest films of the 2000s and should be talked about more in popular culture, online or Film Twitter.

Palm Springs is unspecial. It’s not as innovative as Groundhog Day, not as captivating as Edge of Tomorrow and not as fun as Happy Death Day. Directing-wise and in terms of cinematography, it could have been a YouTube video. I really don’t know where all the buzz is coming from.

Borat 2 is funnier than the original.

Big fan of Better Call Saul, Sex Education, Barry, BoJack Horseman, and, especially, Survivor

The performances were the highlight of Mank.

Da five bloods is a bad movie, horribly written horribly paced and horribly directed. Other than the delroy performance, I cant see why it’s getting any awards buzz (other then cuz its a spike lee joint).

Angela Bassettt should have been the first black best actress winner for What’s Love Got to Do With It? One of the best performances of the 90s.

Plus, Holly Hunter should’ve win for Broadcast News instead of Cher that year. Yeah, narrative plays big game in both win. The first one, she’s still nothing. The second one, so many people want to honour Campion, but the most sentimental film was released that year, so they gave it to other nominations that both do not face each other.

I was about to say this. Palm Springs was quite underwhelming to me after all the hype. I also thought Samberg was not especially better than Milioti, so I do feel bad that he got the Globes nom and she didn’t. But he is the bigger name, and the HFPA is as transparent as plastic.

FYC:

Best Director - Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Darius Marder (Sound of Metal)

Lead Actor - Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round), Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal)

Supporting Actor - Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)

Supporting Actress - Youn Yuh-jung (Minari)

Harlem Nights is a good movie. Funny performances, quotable lines, and writing that really isn’t as clunky as people say. And the costumes are just great.

FYC: Minari for Everything
