45 was not wrong when he said Meryl Streep is overrated.

Shakespeare in Love is a much better movie than Saving Private Ryan and absolutely deserved it’s BP win.

A Beautiful Mind was grade-A garbage and Russell Crowe deserved to lose but not to Denzel.

After re-watching La La Land, Emma Stone deserved her Oscar. Natalie Portman’s accent in Jackie seemed too fake for me. Meryl should have not been nominated. The other two were good, but they were one note performances. Stone was the obvious choice in my opinion.

Last year’s Best Actress race was 1972 all over again.

Snowpiercer was the single greatest film of 2014 and deserved to WIN Best Picture at the Oscars.

Whiplash and Nightcrawler were amazing too, but just the vision, performances, suspense, political themes of totalitarianism and class warfare, brutal yet coherent action, and raw sincere emotion of Snowpiercer all put it at another level for me. 🙂

For your Goldderby Film Awards consideration: Isle of Dogs for every category, especially Music Score for Alexandre Desplat!

Wildly unpopular but I rewatched Les Miserables the other week and think Russell Crowe was actually pretty great as Javert

For my money Crowe gave the most believable performance and certainly had the least obnoxious singing out of every cast member in that whole damn thing. He still wasn’t that great, just better than everyone else in my opinion.
