Ellen Burstyn should have 3 Best Actress Oscars.

-Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (I choose her over Gena Rowlands)
    -Resurrection
    -Requium For a Dream

Honey, The Breakfast Club is a boring and ugly film. As a teenager, I hated every single character in that film.

    Even Ally Sheedy’s? 🙂

Lee Daniels did not direct those movies.

No, he didn’t, Steve McQueen did.  For some reason, Lee Daniels’ The Butler kept running through my brain. I think I saw an ad for it on some older film I watched over the weekend. So my bad. Thank you for the correction.

ETA: Another unpopular opinion that I was reminded of because someone mentioned Von Triers. I will literally never watch another film by him because of Breaking the Waves. I loathed that film with every fiber of my being. It was so critically adored and revered, even despite knowing what happened in it, I thought that the execution, the telling of the story must make it work. So I watched it and it was as misogynistic and horrifying as it sounded. Of course, everything I know about him now just makes it clear why that film is what it is. Emily Watson may have given a great performance in it, but the film itself is a complete and utter misogynistic, gross piece of trash.

Lupita Nyong’o was the worst in her category when she won for 12YAS and shouldn’t even be nominated in the first place. Sarah Paulson was better.

I agree with you. I couldn’t sit through that trash film. It was so heartbreaking, and not even in a good, cinematic way. It’s insane how overrated that movie is.

This is a gut theory, but I seriously don’t think Roma would’ve been second place for the Best Picture votes last year. I hate to say it, but it would’ve been Bohemian Rhapsody. The wins in Actor and Editing, maligned as they rightfully are, signal a level of support in some major branches. If not for the clusterfuck of a directing situation that movie had, it would’ve gotten a Best Director nom and maybe even won. The Academy loved that damn movie.

    For Your Consideration:

    Best Picture: Wolfwalkers

    Best Animated Feature: Wolfwalkers

While it’s not as good as The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises should’ve won Best Picture.

I’ve never understood why more people don’t complain about Ejiofor’s snub. He gave a phenomenal and utterly heartbreaking performance for the ages. He and Fassbender should’ve won alongside Nyong’o.

For me personally, his performance was great but not a standout. Lupita Nyong’o & Michael Fassbender are the ones who left a real impression for me. Even compared to DiCaprio and McConaughey, his performance wasn’t as memorable as theirs but he was in the better movie. Another unpopular opinion, but he didn’t deserve to win it that year.

That year, Bruce Dern should have won for Nebraska and McConaughey should have won for True Detective.

He’s a self aggrandizing asshole. I fully expect to see his own sperm as the focus of his next “masterpiece”.
Happy to see others aren’t overwhelming fans of his.

    For me it’s Renée.

I wasn’t so sure but she’s definitely second. The way some people already act like she’s unstoppable is cringy as fuck
