Tilda Swinton has had so many great performances this decade alone. We Need to Talk About Kevin, A Bigger Splash, Snowpiercer, Suspiria and The Souvenir this year. She is due for another nomination.

Is it really? I feel like I’ve heard people say Blanchett, Ronan or Ryan should have won more often than I’ve heard people say Swinton should have.

I’d give Ryan the Oscar every day of the week.

Movies that most of America hasn’t seen should not be Best Picture winners. Nominees sure, but winners? Outta here with that.

A lot of Supporting Actor nominees last year was a waste of space.

I just love movies. And awards.

    Let’s be real. That’s silly.

I don’t know if it is unpopular or not around these parts, but Titanic is one of my favorite Best Picture winners, and one of my favorite films period. I think it is a masterclass in epic filmmaking: great set design, beautiful costumes, a memorable and emotional score, groundbreaking visual effects that still hold up, two beautiful and talented lead performers, a great performance from a actress from classic Hollywood, a ending that sticks with you. And it is a film that despite its length never manages to feel long.

All the criticisms of it fall flat for me. I just see it as perfect filmmaking.

    All this.

Couldnt have said it better myself. And you are right about the editing. The film NEVER drags.

I think criticisms towards Titanic is/was due to how big the film was. It was a true cultural moment. You could not escape from hearing about the film.

The first Charlie’s Angels film (2000) was actually much better than I thought after rewatching it on Netflix. I was already a superfan but now I want a 3rd film.

The girls were perfectly casted. They were sexy, tough, and funny. Nothing felt forced.
