So glad to see that I was not the only one that thought Zero Dark Thirty was worthy of the win.

Bigelow is one hell of a director.

This isn’t an unpopular opinion, but “Safe and Sound” should’ve been nominated for Best Original Song.

As was the case particularly with Atlas and to an extent even Yellow Flicker Beat. Was there a reason that the Academy completely ignored the HG films?

    FYC:

Lead Actor: Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round)

Supporting Actress: Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm)

Supporting Actor: Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)

Hugh Grant gave the best supporting performance for Paddington 2 as well and deserved a Best Actor nomination for About a Boy.

I wouldn’t say the best (Michael B. Jordan says hi) but Hugh Grant absolutely deserved a nomination for Paddington 2 (which also deserved a best Production Design nomination).

Céline Sciamma was the best female director of last year. Not Greta Gerwig.

Absolutely agree. I’d add that Lulu Wang was also better than Gerwig.

FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"

I know Portrait of a Lady on Fire is more acclaimed than Little Women, but the amount of people here who thought Greta was robbed of an Oscar nomination when she wasn’t even the best, was appauling.

Greta Gerwig stans are always loud anyway. She didn’t deserve a Directing nom

And no one can answer to you or what? And that’s not even unpopular. Portrait is overrated on every single website while Gerwig gets all the lashes as if two female directors deserving a spot was impossible.

Greta was the one getting the most buzz. On Gold Derby and several other sites. When the nominations were announced the amount of backlash from the media to Greta’s snub was huge. So it’s definitely unpopular to say that she wasn’t the best female director last year. And I never said two female directors couldn’t get nominated. FYI both Céline Sciamma and Lulu Wang would’ve made my personal line up.
