I’ll be honest, i don’t even think it’s an unpopular take.
Aside from the SJW Twitter bubble, she is widely beloved in the real world, of course especially by the male audience.

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 5, 2021 at 12:24 pm #1203964362I don’t get the hype for Viola in Ma Rainey and it’s not even about the amount of screentime she has. Like she did the best with what she was given but I don’t really get a range of emotions or a particular standout scene from it that makes me go: oh wow I really felt that or something like that.
Aside I just thought not much happened in the movie in general. Like the whole movie was recording some songs and it was over. Like yes we got the emotional outpour and hopes and dreams from Chadwick’s character and there are obvious themes in it but in terms of plot… not much happens. I get it’s based on a play but I was kinda always waiting for something more to happen or for them to move to another location. There was too much rehearsal room banter.

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 5, 2021 at 8:52 pm #1203965239I really don’t want my girl Glenda to win for Hillbilly Elegy. It would be a disgrace to her legacy for her to win for a nothing performance.
No it wouldn’t. It means she won’t die Oscar-less.

(even Gangs of New York, which is only really good by Scorsese’s standards).January 6, 2021 at 6:55 am #1203965627Spielberg directed several bad and boring movies in the last 25 years and his only masterpiece was Munich

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 6, 2021 at 9:25 pm #1203966798I hate how #oscarssowhite focuses on the acting category. What about the other categories?
We as people of color have more talents than acting. I think the obsession with fame makes people go so hard for the acting.
Hopefully, this year, we see progression.
