Rebecca Hall should have been nominated for SA for The Town. She is the best part of that (great) film. Sean Penn and Marcia Gay Harden were fantastic in Mystic River.

kate winslet and sam mendes got divorced that year because he was cheating on her with rebecca hall and kate winslet is very well liked

The only good thing about The Fabelmans was the Production Design

Andrew Garfield should have been nominated for Silence instead of Hacksaw Ridge in 2017

Gwyneth Paltrow was quite lovely and luminous in Shakespeare in Love, and I don’t understand the excessive hate she gets for her win. She was great in the film.

Same for Helen Hunt. She was fantastic in As Good As It Gets, deserved her Oscar, and I’m glad she finally ended up getting a deserved follow up nomination for The Sessions.

Christina Aguilera should act more. She was adorable in Burlesque. She has real potential, imo.

Oscar acting categories should never go genderless, it would be the worst decision ever.

It cause gender war on twitter. There’ll only be justice when a woman wins. They should never do this

Gloria Stuart should not have been nominated for Titanic.  Leo definitely should have been nominated.

If they can give Nomadland and EEAAO directing wins. They really can give animated/documentary features a director nod.

Bafta is racist and they need to end.

it’s a shame that the way more diverse Globes are the ones that are constantly attacked

Titanic doesn’t even come in top 5 of Winslet’s performances fr

Love you Manav so absolutely not a personal attack, this post just prompted this line of thinking.

Something that needs to be remembered is that organizations award the best of a given year, not of artists’ careers.

Case in point: The Departed is not Martin Scorsese’s best. However, the Picture and Director wins are deserved since they were the best in the year of 2006.

Titanic may not be Winslet’s best, but she may have been the best of 1997 (absolutely not saying she was as I haven’t seen any of the other nominees).

I think this gets forgotten and people think, “Oh they shouldn’t have won the Oscar for this, they should have won it for this” or whatever, and I think that belies the point of awards.

Jessica Lange may have given one of the greatest performances of all-time in Frances (dunno never seen it), but Meryl Streep gave what may be THE greatest performance of all-time in Sophie’s Choice (also dunno, never seen). That doesn’t mean she didn’t deserve her win in 1994, which was a barren year.

Anyway… This is never covered so just thought I’d throw it out there.

(Also I realized in this post how many more movies I have to watch haha)
