Don’t know if this is unpopular or not but saying someone delivered their best performance of their careers is not a strong argument for an Oscar win.

Light rant:

Some need to stop pretending that actors are in beauty competitions. If someone loses an Oscar, they have every right to not be happy. They lost. Some of you tiring h**s cry like little b****s when an actress does not jump for joy when she loses.
“OMG, I’m not going to support her anymore because she was mad she lost.” Some of yall are f***** pu****s.

It’s a matter of class. Glenn Close was visibly disappointed when she lost to Olivia Colman, yet she was gracious and supported her. That’s all people expect — adult behavior. (For what it’s worth, i didn’t really have any problem with Angela Bassett’s reaction.)

As for Angela Bassett, I mean… Personal disappointment is not the same thing as ungraciousness. People have the right to feel disappointed for not winning. That doesn’t mean they are ungracious or that they hate the person that won. And as Cate Blanchett said, “it is always about actresses who are being turned against each other.”

Angela shouldn’t be compared to Glenn Close. Losses or not, Glenn is a white woman in Hollywood who as been afforded way more opportunities in her career than Angela to even get nominated that many times for an Oscar (not taking away Glenn’s immense talent). Angela’s loss has a bit more sting to it as a black woman. Besides that……why is her reaction still even being discussed at length? Yall act like there was a shot of her rolling or eyes or something.

beyonce lost album of the year four times but is still polite enough to applaud all winners no matter how disappointed she is
angela has been in conversation with jamie lee curtis several times the last few months and show respect for the work of other people is good sportsmanship

she had no reason to expect to win after losing bafta or sag so the least she could do is show that she is not self entitled and fake a smile for the professional colleague who has been working for as long as she has
