if you watch the video you can clearly see that jamie lee curtis walks by angela bassett on her way to the stage
everybody is standing up and clapping but angela is sitting down and not clapping and that was about 30 seconds after the announcement so she had time to cool off and try to be nice
she was on the front row so jamie could see her the entire time, that is disrespectful

You really think Jamie Lee, who was riding high and probably having an outer body experience of winning an Oscar, was focused on Angela Bassett? I think not. Its really not that serious, and its not something that Angela should be held to the fire for.
March 27, 2023 at 3:13 am #1205365295beyonce lost album of the year four times but is still polite enough to applaud all winners no matter how disappointed she is
angela has been in conversation with jamie lee curtis several times the last few months and show respect for the work of other people is good sportsmanshipshe had no reason to expect to win after losing bafta or sag so the least she could do is show that she is not self entitled and fake a smile for the professional colleague who has been working for as long as she has
Music and Hollywood are two different ballgames. They can’t be compared. Angela had an honest reaction. Like I said, people are acting like she walked out of the room or something. She is not obligated to stand up.

it doesnot matter if jamie focused on it or not, everyone else saw it, the internet saw it, it is important to show consideration for others
you are defending it because it is someone you like but if it were the other way around and angela had won and jamie lee curtis was the only person sitting during a standing ovation without clapping at any point and without even so much as a smile you would find it disrespectful towards bassett

The internet sees EVERYTHING and blows EVERYTHING out of proportion. Just as you’re doing now. Unless you are ALWAYS considerate of others everything single day and every second…who are you to be judging someone’s lack of consideration? Angela Bassett is a human being, not a perfect deity. Angela Bassett not standing does not hover this dark cloud of Jamie Lee’s win the way you are trying to make it seem.
If it was the other way around, I’d be focusing my attention on Angela’s win and not focusing on victimizing her.

I agree.
March 27, 2023 at 2:55 pm #1205366059I like what Angela Bassett did at the Oscars. It shows Angela Bassett is not fake. Hollywood is full of fake people. I known it. I work there. I remember Samuel L. Jackson and Eddie Murphy did worse when they lost

In truth, to a greater or lesser extent, I think almost everybody succumbs to the herd mentality. Pundits do it, the guilds do it, AMPAS and BAFTA members do it, and Gold Derby experts, editors and posters do it.

They herd themselves and then keep blaming others. Also they themselves don’t award hidden gems most of the time and then say he/she won on basis of popularity.
if only they hyped the Worst person more than LP sorry not sorry

April 2, 2023 at 5:18 pm #1205374914Love EEAAO but how in tf was it “Independent”? They legit changed the rules so that the film could sweep.

I also have issues with their criteria. However, nowadays there is no inbetween when it comes to productions of less than one million dollars and the bar for twenty of studios. I don’t think there hasn’t been an independent film winning outside of the John Cassavetes award and Tangerine since at least a good 15 years.
