I disagree with most opinions here but that’s the point. It’s called unpopular opinions. Take it easy.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 30, 2022 at 4:17 am #1205171358Very unpopular opinion: It’s possible to root for people of color because of their talent and execution and not the diversity they would bring to the Oscars, which would also be very valid.
the hype for Yeoh isn’t entirely about her overrated performance. Let’s not kid ourselves

Well, I didn’t mention you and the reason I made this post wasn’t even you specifically. Yesterday someone else disputed Deadwyler’s Gotham win by saying she only won because voters wanted diversity. In your post you also try to put the results of Yeoh’s work in a possible diversity quota.

I think there’s a huge chance that people watch Yeoh or Deadwyler and just love their performance and want to vote for them regardless of their skin color. People have different opinions. You for example would vote for Lady Gaga even if she gave the worst performance in the world. I don’t think Yeoh’s performance is overrated and in fact I think it’s superior in quality to all the other candidates this year, white or not. And the reason for that isn’t the diversity it would bring to the Oscars. And even if it were, what’s wrong with that?November 30, 2022 at 5:18 am #1205171373the hype for Yeoh isn’t entirely about her overrated performance. Let’s not kid ourselves

ReplyCopy URLDecember 24, 2022 at 7:52 pm #1205208971For lots of people Spencer was a borefest, but they liked Kristen Stewart’s performance. But for me it was quite the opposite: Spencer ( along with Drive My Car and Titane) was one of the best films last year but Stewart’s performance was annoying/terrible.

My Very Unpopular Opinion With Cinephiles is: This could be be a great thing. I and The General Public were tired of Oscar Movies. I and The General Public want Huge Events: Avatar 2(even though I didn’t like it), Top Gun 2(even though I didn’t like it), Killers of the Flower Moon, Batman 2, Dune 2, Joker 2, Mission Impossible 7 and 8, NAPOLEON and GLADIATOR PART II
