If Adam Sandler wants an Oscar nomination, he should look to Noah Baumbach to write him a meaty supporting role.

Meryl Streep was terrible in Bridges of Madison County.

Elisabeth Shue should have won Best Actress for Leaving Las Vegas.

Just ignore The Number 23. That was a disaster on every level and nobody got out unscathed.

Carrey should have 3 Oscar nominations for Truman Show, Man in the Moon and Eternal Sunshine. Any of them would be worthy winners, though I’m biased towards Truman Show as maybe my favourite film of that decade.

The fact that they’ve continued snubbing him makes me cynical about cases like Adam Sandler, where some anonymous voters said ‘Oh, I’ll nominate him next time once I see Uncut Gems wasn’t a fluke’.

I finally watched Parasite. I thought it was fabulous. I still think that Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood was the best film of the nominees and should have won Best Picture.

Replace Uncut Gems with Punch Drunk Love and that’s the exact phrasing they said 15 years ago.

I would have nominated him for The Grinch as well. One of the greatest film comedic performances of all time in my opinion.

Sex Education is actually the best Netflix original series. It’s hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time. Don’t know why this show doesn’t have any contention for Awards.

I wouldn’t go that far (I still prefer Karloff’s beautifully sinister voice work as the the title character), but I’ll acknowledge that Carrey completely and totally carries that film. Without him, there’d be practically nothing of value in it.

On the topic of The Grinch, I have bet mixed feelings about Rick Baker’s makeup winning the Oscar. On one hand, the makeup for The Grinch is absolutely spectacular, but the makeup for all The Whos is awful.

I think they made a mistake actually removing the lips from the Whos. That’s one thing from the book and animated movie that just didn’t translate well to live action. It would prove even worse with the Things from the monstrosity that is the Cat in the Hat adaptation, of which I’m sure nobody has any fond memories.

I’d like to see Tarantino adapt another novel, like Jackie Brown, and make a movie that’s somewhat uncharacteristic of him in overall tone, again, like Jackie Brown.
