Many consider Lady Bird or Little Women to be Saoirse Ronan best performance, I think it’s Brooklyn, not only do I think Brooklyn is her best performance but I also think that among the films she was the protagonist Brooklyn is the best, the only two films that she did better than Brooklyn were Atonement and Grand Budapest Hotel. I think Brooklyn deserves all the hype that LB and LW have.

I agree that Brooklyn is Saoirse’s best performance, but I also adore her performance in Lady Bird and Little Women.  I don’t think people quite see how transformative she is in Lady Bird.  It’s kind of a brilliant performance.  I actually think she should’ve won Best Actress for Brooklyn and Lady Bird.

All 4 of Saoirse’s Oscar nominations are brilliant

In my opinion Lady Bird is the best Saoirse Ronan film (not counting Grand Budapest Hotel cause her role is pretty small there), but Brooklynn is her best performance.

I wish Hanna would have taken off for Ronan. She was PERFECT.I would have loved a trilogy.

I do hope she is considered for House of The Dragon (if she is interested).

    Nah, Hanna sucked.

It was bad and she wasn’t absolutely believable as this slim teenager who could tackle and wrestle adult guys two or three times bigger and more muscular than her.

While it was a strong year, I’d have loved to see Scream’s screenplay nominated.

It simultaneously is a great slasher film and a great parody of one as well, and the twists are genuinely very well done.

The live-action Lady and the Tramp was far better than the ‘live-action’ Lion King.

I feel like The Lion King remake gets too much hate. Yes, it’s basically a carbon copy of the original, but if they changed significant aspects of the plot it would have made more people angry, since The Lion King is such a beloved story. And yes, the musical sequences feel neutered as a result of the “realistic” animation style, but aside from Be Prepared, they’re still engaging (though I still can’t fathom why they had Can You Feel The Love Tonight IN THE DAYTIME!). The onyl huge problem for me is the facial expressions: the mid-cap used for The Jungle Book worked perfectly, so why didn’t they use that here?

There’s a lot of good in The Lion King that people overlook. Hans Zimmer’s score and James Earl Jones’s vocal performance once again deliver, the Visual Effects are breathtaking, the voice cast is mostly an improvement over the original, especially Donald Glover, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogan (Ejiolfor and Beyonce being the only exceptions: they should have brought back Jeremy Irons, damnit), and the opening Circle of Life sequence is breathtaking: one of my favorite scenes of any 2019 film.

    Fuck the Grammys

To be fair though, the visuals are undermined by the facial animations as you mentioned, and most of what was good was the stuff from before such as Jones and the score. I’ll give credit to Eichner and Rohan who were fun, but I don’t think they were superior to Lane and Sabella.

Anyway, to new the main reason why that film didn’t work is just because it had nothing to really add. The other Disney remakes have their problems, but they felt like newer experiences since they were in live action settings and they tried to put in more new stuff. This was just another animated Lion King only not as good.

Anyway I agree that they really should’ve brought Jeremy Irons back, especially because he wanted to play the role again. Jones may have the more iconic voice, but Irons gives the best performance in the original. His vocals were delectable.

Friday is truly one of the greatest comedies of all-time.

Chris Tucker is probably the funniest on-screen comedian ever!

Babel is not good and the performances were overrated.
