Kate Winslet should have been the first person ever to win 2 Oscars in one night like she did at the Golden Globes. Best Actress for Revolutionary Road and Best Supporting Actress for The Reader. She gave the 2 best female performances that year.

Crash was the 2nd best movie of 2005, but Brokeback Mountain wasn’t first. In fact, out of the 5 BP nominees, I’d rank them:

    1. Good Night, and Good Luck

    2. Crash

    3. Munich

    4. Capote

    5. Brokeback Mountain

DiCaprio should have been nominated at the Academy for J. Edgar instead of Bichir.

Anne Hathaway would be incredible as Audrey Hepburn.

I liked Isabelle Huppert in Frankie more than I liked her in Elle and Things To Come.
I have to watch more of her early stuff.

Neither Clift nor Brando was the runner-up to Bogart in 1951. Why? Because they split the”popular leading man in big BP contender”vote. Also, look at the ’51 precursors if you can. I checked out NYFCC from that year the other day, where Streetcar swept, except for Best Actor. To whom did that prize go to? Arthur Kennedy. The Globes picked Fredric March that year(Kennedy was also nominated, as was Douglas for Detective Story; Brando and Clift weren’t). Of those two, Kennedy had the advantage due to the difficulty of his role

Back in the day there was no such thing as precursors, Golden Globes sometimes got it right. Many Oscar winners went on to win the Oscar without a Globe.

Jack Nicholson did not deserve his third Oscar for As Good as It Gets.

    1. Leonardo DiCaprio should have been nominated for Revolutionary Road and Shutter Island. He was also good in Catch Me If You Can.

Nicholson is terrible most of the times. The only time he deserved to win was in 1987 for Ironweed.
His Oscars for Terms of Endearment and As Good As It Gets are one of the worst of all time.
