Paul Dano should have been nominated for There Will Be Blood.

Adam Driver should have won this year for Marriage Story, and Adam Sandler should have been nominated for Uncut Gems, Jonathan Pryce had no business staying there for that subpar performance.

    1. Driver
    2. Sandler
    3. Phoenix
    4. DiCaprio
    5. Banderas

Joaquin Phoenix instead should have won for The Master, he lost to Day-Lewis, which should have gotten his second Oscar for Gangs of New York, and then his final third for There Will Be Blood.

I agree strongly about Driver, somewhat about Sandler, disagree about Phoenix, and agree about Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York.

I’ve never once thought DiCaprio’s acting is great since the Departed. Inception would’ve been so much better if someone else played Cobb.

I find George Clooney incredibly overrated. I think he’s average looking, has average charisma and is an average actor with average directing abilities. I have absolutely no clue why anyone goes gaga over him. The only time I found him likeable was when he had a recurring role on Facts of Life way back when. From ER on, I’ve found him kinda smarmy.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan both deserved Oscar nominations for Freaky Friday.

    Academy-Award winners:

Parasite: Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay

Joker: Best Actor - Joaquin Phoenix

    Jojo Rabbit: Best Adapted Screenplay

I’m sick of Seth Rogen. His shtick might’ve been fine when he was younger, but playing the same exact character (who’s really just himself) so often for over a decade has caused it to really wear thin, as does his seeming insistence on filling all of his projects with weed and dick jokes, two of the easiest, laziest, and most unfunny kinds of humor.

What’s interesting to me is that, while I don’t think he’a particularly great at it, I find him much more entertaining when he plays against type, like in Steve Jobs.

I disagree with everything that you said
Phoenix performance was more complex, he portrayed two different characters in one movie not just one like Driver and sandler, Day lewis was amazing in Lincoln, though the movie was boring at the end.

How dare you! DiCaprio was absolutely riveting and wrenching.

Who, out of curiosity, were you thinking of?

Walton Goggins was the best performance in The Hateful Eight. I’m shocked that he didn’t get more love for his work there.

I loved Jamie Lee in that one. Her comedic timing is gold. She is just so underrated outside of the horror fans realm.
The biggest limitation I think is that it was a Disney movie, hence the script was very light. If she could’ve been allowed to play the character with more risks, she would’ve been a worthy nominee. I know Depp got in, and Andrews won, but those are very different scenarios.

Every past winner in each category should present the following year’s Oscar in their respective category unless they’re in competition that following year; shine a light on the directors, writers, and tech people.

Yeah, even though I really like that film, it does feel trapped within the Disney constraints sometimes. I hope if they ever do another reboot it goes full bore Hard R, like the Lil Dicky/Chris Brown music video. They could get 20th Century to do it if they’re worried about brand image.
