I have a seriously unpopular opinion. Zendaya is so overexposed and we’re being forced to worship her for some unknown reason. She’s going to be everywhere for the rest of the year with her tiny part in Dune being played up ridiculously (fitrst 40 seconds of the trailer released today, plus a kissing scene), followed by Spider-Man where they’ve basically written her part to maximise her screen time and publicity time, as if she’s central to the plot (like Zendaya’s role model Beyonce did in Lion King). And all the fashion shoots, OTT looks, magazine covers, it’s going to be endless. What am I missing??! Why is she so hyped and absolutely everywhere? She doesn’t seem outrageously talented to warrant the hype.

I might say you’re in someways contributing to her overexposure with your analysis.

Zendaya has 90 million followers in Instagram. Zendaya is, probably, the biggest female star in Hollywood after Lady Gaga

Thinking that Zendaya is ‘overexposed’ is not an unpopular opinion. And actors being ‘forced down our throats’ is not something new, the industry has always done that, the concept of movie star/it girl/it boy is not something new.

Yes but it’s highly unpopular to say it out loud. Beyonce level hysterical support in the fandom (which is another weird phenomenon) and marketing execs who sync with this.

JOJO RABBIT Won the Oscar 2020 for best
Adapted screenplay film was so funny ,In my opinion JOJO RABBIT is unique movie in term of the idea of the movie but as the whole writing of the movie it was the weakest among all the nominees in that category ,I just want to say that because I was shocked when the movie won and i laughed …That moment.. as if i am hearing a joke in the middle of a serious ceremony

I think Ryan Gosling is overrated, but he gave one hell of a performance in Half Nelson.

The best decade of cinema is the 1970s.

Titane is bad. Like really really bad. This decision will age horribly. It really felt like a populist decision (a genre film directed by a woman) when other movies were much more deserving of the Palme (Benedetta in particular who got completely and undeservedly snubbed).

Like many people, I still can’t believe it won over masterful screenplays such as Little Women and The Irishman.

If Beale Street Could Talk is not good. Though King, the score, and the cinematography are Oscar-worthy, and Jenkins’ direction is Oscar-nomination-worthy, the movie itself is not. It didn’t deserve a single Picture nomination anywhere. Not only does it not explore Tish and Fonny’s relationship enough to actually make the audience care about them, but its outcome also makes the entire movie pointless. I LOVE the book (it’s in my personal collection), but having Tish TELL about the relationship instead of actually SHOWING it (especially the stuff from childhood) strips the movie of a lot of the intimately personal elements. And ending the movie like it is really goes against everything that the book is about: hope. This is why I’m also glad it didn’t win Adapted Screenplay. I’ll relent that it is Oscar-nomination-worthy, simply because many of the quotes are very beautiful and Jenkins incorporated many direct quotes from the book, plus that category was pretty weak that year, but changing the plot really takes a lot away from it. I think that a decade or two from now, the movie will be thought of as having been overrated by critics, and a good decision by the Academy of snubbing it for Picture.

I will add to the list and say Carey Mulligan was nothing special in Promising Young Woman.

These forums are not ready for the spillage.
