House of Gucci is better than some of the movies that are locked for BP nominations. It had issues, but it was still enjoyable and way more memorable than 70% of the films in contention. There’s a reason the others flopped hard
Because they had no huge celebrity. No Gaga level celebrity. Not even close.
HoG didn’t do well because it’s good lol
Honestly I can only call HoG a better movie than Being The Ricardos. All the other contenders are WAY better movies.
You just can’t see it. And never will so stop trying. You’re WAY to biased and blind
January 7, 2022 at 6:06 am #1204702349I’m not a brit myself but don’t you think that most American doing British accents are doing the same Posh/London accent?
I’m Australian (basically the same thing) – there are dozens and dozens of accents in the UK, even within London there are half a dozen or more accents: think of how different Adele (Cockney), Tom Holland (SW London), The Queen (RP), Daniel Kaluuya (South London) and Alan Rickman/Sacha Baron Cohen (West London) all sound.
Most foreign attempts are either going for Received Pronunciation (RP), generic southern posh (most successfully by Renee Zellweger, Gwyneth Paltrow and Elle Fanning) or cockney – all southern/London accents. I don’t mean everyone is necessarily successful at those attempts, but that is general go of it.
I have never heard a Scouse or Somerset or Mancunian or Welsh accent attempted. Even some of the more obscure ones like Cornish or random like Birmingham or Lancashire. But for the love of god nor do I want to hear them attempted badly.
Bill Hader and Barry in everything (2 babka)
The Great - Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult and comedy writing and directingSeverance in drama series, writing, Adam Scott for best actor, Ben Stiller for drama directing, and the whole cast in supporting.

I think Cillian Murphy and basically every brits in Peaky Blinders uses Birmingham accent and if you’ve seen Last Night in Soho, Thomasin McKenzie’s accent in that was Cornish accent (which sounds odd for some)
FYC:
Best Director: Edgar Wright, Guillermo Del Toro, Jane Campion
Best Picture: Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog
Best Actress: Kristen Stewart, Thomasin McKenzie, Rooney Mara, Tessa Thompson
Best Actor: Benedict Cumberbatch, Bradley Cooper
Best S. Actress: Cate Blanchett, Diana Rigg, Anya Taylor Joy
Best S. Actor: Kodi Smit McPhee, Willem Dafoe, Richard JenkinsJanuary 7, 2022 at 7:23 am #1204702477I think Cillian Murphy and basically every brits in Peaky Blinders uses Birmingham accent and if you’ve seen Last Night in Soho, Thomasin McKenzie’s accent in that was Cornish accent (which sounds odd for some)
Good point on McKenzie but for Murphy it’s kind of a bit of a mixed Irish-Brummie accent anyway no? But most of Peaky Blinders cast is British, so that doesn’t count. I’m always astounded by how well British actors can do other British accents.

To each their own. I think HOUSE OF GUCCI is Better than Don’t Look Up for example. I hated Don’t Look Up. Maybe Don’t Look Up is too stupid. I don’t sure but I really hated it. I born in Europe and I suppose it something Global Killer really happens, the UK or China or other country could save our Earth. I really doubt our whole Earth is fucked if the USA is fucked. A great movie about that is THE MARTIAN. The Earth is MORE than the USA

Good Point, Putin would’ve done something.

When I was younger, I traveled all South America, Central America and Mexico and Spain. Everyone talks Spanish but every Country has a Different Spanish Accent. We never saw that in Hollywood movies because 99.9% of people don’t know or don’t care. But a Mexican talks totally different than a Argentinian. For example Anya Taylor Joy talks 100% like an Argentinian typical woman. We ONLY have Mexican Accent in Hollywood movies for some very Weird reason

As a latin American i can confirm that’s true, i respect Gael García Bernal for doing Argentinian and Chilean accents in his movies, many Latin American actors don’t do that.
January 8, 2022 at 11:18 am #1204705357West Side Story (2021 version) is the greatest movie musical of all time and the very best adaptation of a Broadway musical to movie screen that has ever been made. Tony Kushner’s adaptation is miraculous and beyond superb!
Aren’t you a massive French film fan? How can you say this when the entirety of Jacques Demy’s filmography exists 😭

January 17, 2022 at 5:50 am #1204733407Had the following 5 actresses been nominated for Best Actress for the 2019 Academy Awards, they’d have comprised a stronger field than the actual nominees-Aparicio, Close, Colman, Gaga, and McCarthy:
Toni Collette- Hereditary
Elsie Fisher- Eighth Grade
Regina Hall- Support the Girls
Helena Howard- Madeline’s Madeline
Carey Mulligan- WildlifeJanuary 17, 2022 at 6:20 am #1204733425Ready Player One is a good movie

January 17, 2022 at 9:06 am #1204733747Spider-Man No Way Home is the worst MCU movie by a country mile and will be the final nail in the coffin of creativity in blockbuster cinema if the studios learn the wrong lessons from it, which they will because it made all the money.
