West Side Story is not the sole greatest movie musical of all time but it’s certainly up there with Cabaret, Chicago and Moulin Rouge!

And Singing in the Rain, which tops the AFI’s list of Greatest Movie Musicals which was compiled in 2006.

Biopics/Based on true story movies are worse than Marvel. The fact that they constantly get nominated, even when they are bad is the reason studios keep making them. There are only a few every year that are done properly.

Balfe and Hinds are the only Belfast actors who deserve to get recognition. Dornan did a good job with what he had but he wasn’t undeniable. I thought Jude Hill’s performance was stronger but he’s obviously not getting nominated (edit: I wrote Jude Law instead of Hill but fixed it now 😂😂).

It’s insane that the same Oscar voters who gave Halle Berry Best Actress for Monster’s Ball didn’t even nominate Billy Bob Thornton for Best Actor. She deserved her win, but he gives an even better performance that should’ve been recognized.

I thought Heath Ledger gave the best performance as a matter of fact I think it was his best performance

Ben Mendelsohn is a really good actor who needs to take a break from playing villains and take on different/interesting characters

I feel like Ryan Reynolds will give us a Oscar winning performance soon. He’s just collecting coin at the moment.

People need to start giving more credit to the director who actually invented going from comedies to serious dramas: Jay Roach.

Spider-Man No Way Home is the worst MCU movie by a country mile and will be the final nail in the coffin of creativity in blockbuster cinema if the studios learn the wrong lessons from it, which they will because it made all the money.

I agree. But nobody can copy that. That movie was the worst ever and only made that money because it was 3 generations together. Carrie Fisher is dead so no for Star Wars. Han Solo is dead too. Christopher Reeve is dead too so no for Superman. Maybe Superman if they use Henry Cavill plus Tom Welling plus 1 Superman more. Maybe Batman if they use Michael Keaton plus Ben Affleck plus Christian Bale

I don’t understand why some of y’all are watching movies for the actors’ performances. Like, why watch a film you know you will hate just to come here and say « yeah [insert actor’s name] was fabulous however this is the worst film I’ve ever seen ».
