“The devil got into Hollywood this weekend as seven bidders waged a head-spinning auction battle for a star-studded exorcism movie package that was won late last night by Netflix.

Lee Daniels will direct, reuniting with his Oscar-nominated The United States vs. Billie Holiday star Andra Day, who’ll star with Octavia Spencer, Glenn Close, Rob Morgan, Caleb McLaughlin and Aunjanue Ellis.

Day will play the mother of an Indiana family whose children purportedly became demonically possessed in a thriller inspired by an actual case.

Sources tell Deadline that the package closed upward of $65 million, covering the film’s budget and buyouts. Daniels, Tucker Tooley and Pam Williams are producing. It is fast-tracked to begin production by the middle of this year.”

Not the most gifted Director, but an interesting project either way with that cast and Netflix on the mix.

I love to see Glenn keeping herself busy.

He is gifted he just a hit or miss director this probably gonna be a hit. This new genre of film will probably be more creative then the Billie Holliday movie.

Andra Day is SUCH a talented actress but I so wish she’d work with a different director such as Regina King or Shaka King or Dee Rees or so many others whom I think would make better films and better use of her talents.

This sounds…interesting. I’m not very confident considering Lee Daniels track record but I have hope this could turn out to be good.

Happy Glennie is getting herself a lot of projects,  as of lately. Since this is a horror movie, I would love to see her return to her unhinged performances/characters. And I always wanted her to work with Octavia Spencer, so I couldn’t be more happy. Fingers crossed for this to be good.

The United States vs Billie Holiday would have been a much more compelling film had Shaka King directed it.

FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

Yup the only once I remember that was even good was Monsters Ball and Precious. He isn’t the greatest director but I’m scratching my head he was able to work with Halle,  Billy Bob Nicole and  Helen Mirren.

This will likely be atrocious with career worst performances for everyone involved but give high camp a la The Woman in the Window. So at least it could be entertaining.
