From all the google searches, it was expected, but never officially confirmed until now.

As far as the acting goes I think she can do more than just hold on her own in Jojo Rabbit (and even better, shine on her own but Johansson was buzzier that year for some reason).

McKenzie was not given enough meat in Jojo Rabbit in my opinion which is strange since she played a Jewish person during the Holocaust. Well that goes about one of my criticism that her character was used as a plot device but thats a different dicussion for another day.

    Michelle Williams Oscar campaign manager.

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the Gold Derby predictions centre poll! There’s still time left (deadline is Friday) if you haven’t so if you want to take part please DM your predictions.

Just sent mine, though some of the predictions I made I wouldn’t make now, but I see no reason to think too much about it until next month.

Not related to Oscar season, but Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been cast as Kraven the Hunter after impressing Sony execs with dailies of him acting alongside Brad Pitt in Bullet Train. I remember Adam Driver’s name being rumored for the role a few months ago but I didn’t believe it because it didn’t come from one of the trades, but Justin Kroll confirmed that Driver-along with others like Pitt and JDW-were considered. I could be wrong, but I don’t see Driver doing another blockbuster again. He once said in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning that he’s “allergic” to blockbusters, and has said in other interviews he agreed to do Star Wars because J.J. Abrams stressed the importance of character over spectacle. Kroll’s tweet: https://mobile.twitter.com/krolljvar/status/1397676803439747072

Driver has been linked to/turned down so many franchise parts at this point it’s getting hard to keep up.

There was the Lex Luthor/Nightwing thing, then Captain Hook, Kraven, which I remember hearing a while back he had turned down, and I think he was rumoured for a potential Nightmare movie at one point. Plus people have been fan casting him as Dr Doom for years.

If Soho is going on the festival circuit it will be interesting to see which one it goes to. On the one hand it feels like Cannes fare but on the other with the October release date I can see it go to Venice (a bit like Black Swan).

FYC: All things The Crown, Hacks and I May Destroy You (and Hannah Waddingham and Julianne Nicholson whilst you're at it)!!

Same with Last Night in Soho. What a bloodbath October in general will be and not to mention Eternals in the first week of November.

The showdown for “Box Office Reliant” Contender has begin, apparently. On paper The French Dispatch will have better chance to gain more Box Office than Soho (and their Awards chance in general) since its more accessible and its Wes Anderson.

Focus better play their card at Festival Circuit or they will go home empty handed whem Noms are announced
