Also can’t really see Soho getting in too many places. Possibly a lone screenplay nod and/ or a couple of techs. One thing it might have going in its favour is that it’s one of the biggest and most British films that we know is coming out in the awards season. That could spur it on, especially after we saw the BAFTAs being a really solid precursor this year, but I think it’ll be too heavy on the edgy genre elements to crack such a crowded year. That said, Wright has never really made anything that hasn’t been a crowd-pleaser, so if this ends up being his biggest film yet, maybe people will feel its time he entered the awards conversation. Awaiting reactions to the film before I move it near to a Picture prediction, though.

McKenzie is a strong contender for the Young Actor / Actress award at CC

What’s the age cutoff for Best Young Actor at CC?

She’s already been nominated for it twice, so I don’t know if they’d still nominate her, but actors of a similar age (she’ll be 21 come awards season) have won/ been nominated for it before. I imagine the cut-off is 21, so she’ll probably just about be eligible. I think recent winners Lucas Hedges, Ellar Coltrane, Adele Exarchopoulos were all 20/21 when they won.

If I had read the script of The Favourite or Parasite in advance I also would thought that they wouldn’t be an Oscar contender. Sometimes it just looks better on the big screen.

New picture and some new info about Thomasin McKenzie’s character in Last Night in Soho: https://mobile.twitter.com/DiscussingFilm/status/1392467807418322947

    <p style=”text-align: left;”>They are going full Fight Club lmao.</p>
On separate note, CC has been obsessed with Mckenzie by nominating her twice in a row. And while i anticipate her performance in Soho, she has a much better shot in 2023 than next year and probably with less competition.

This thread’s obsession with trying to make last night in soho happen (as an oscar contender) is cute. It’s a mix of wishful thinking and a pipe dream.

I think this kinda hurts MacBeth, since Apple will probably be in charge of the campaign and the “Streaming film” label will be always present.

Curious to see what will be A24’s priority. The Green Knight ? It looks too weird and genre-ish. C’Mon C’mon looks too small.

I belive C’mon C’mon is now A24 priority, as it supposed to be last year, it was planned to open at one of  the fall festivals, whether Toronto or Telluride, or maybe NY, and then wide in December, similar pattern as Uncut Gems was released, and by that giving it prime time award friendly spot.

We will see, maybe plans have changed but can’t see potentialy stronger contender for them now after they have sold Macbeth.

It’s also why they teamed up with Ridley Scott for Kitbag. It was originally under his deal with Disney/Fox, but Scott ended up taking the film to Apple after he finished The Last Duel. Seems strange Scott didn’t just make Kitbag with Disney.

Does it? He didn’t make Gucci with them either.
