After reading the premise to The Power of the Dog, it seems like it’s gonna be an absolute juggernaut next season. The book is revered too, can’t wait for a Jane Campion comeback

    Most likely predictions:
    Picture
    Director
    Adapted Screenplay
2-3 Acting noms (Dunst probably the safest bet)
Score? Cinematography? Production Design at the least maybe

Loool, D. Washington is a mediocre director, Fences was really forgettable. No hope for this one.

Honestly the premise sounds terrible. No thanks.

Could be. But it’s too soon to rule something out with two high profile Academy faves. The Academy has been shying away more and more from genre bias and more towards these weirder more arthouse films so if either of Annette, Last Night in Soho or Don’t Worry Darling miss, I doubt it would be because of their genre.

Bringing back my comment from the previous thread about why I want this to be Driver’s nomination this year –

This feels more like the type of project an actor like Driver should be rewarded for, but also because someone getting nominated for a Leos Carax movie will encourage other big actors to step out of their box, make bold choices and do things like sticking for years with projects by European auteurs who deserve to have way more films made and seen.

Amazon snapped it up for distribution two years before it was even shot and has held onto it this entire time.

The trailer has already showed up all over the internet in places you wouldn’t expect (and not just because he gets his abs out/is partially naked in it, though that is partly the reason lol).

Score is a sure thing. It’s Jonny Greenwood.

This or The French Dispatch will be the nomination leader.

How could I rule out anything this early in the race lol? It’s just a feeling.

I was making more of a general point.

    Best Actress
    Best Supp. Actor
    Best Supp. Actress
    Best Original Screenplay
    Best Cinematography
    Best Costume Design
    Best Original Score

    and potentially more.

DOR is so mediocre compared to Wes Anderson and Jane Campion. I hope whatever the name of his film is flops hard

I thought DOR was canceled for being a jerk and groping his niece?

He was, but he hasn’t had a movie out since then. This will be the first.
