aka known as the BFCA of Gold Derby!
Hey, that may be true in general, but we’ve made some out-of-the-box choices before like Mad Max: Fury Road and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in Best Picture and when it was obvious those movies were not going to win Best Picture at the Oscars. Gotta give credit where credit is due.
Overall you are correct these awards try to predict the Oscars way too often, but that isn’t always such a bad thing when the winners both our groups award happen to be genuinely deserving.

Also, I know not to spam these with FYC, so here are just a few more, then I’ll be good.
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION:
Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie for Best Animated Feature and for Best Song “Captain Underpants Theme Song”
James Mcavoy “Split” as Best Actor.
NO ONE else he is up against, no matter how much you love Chalamet or Oldman, I don’t believe that any of them could have shown the intense range and extraordinarily transformative work that Mcavoy showed in Split. He had to play people pretending to be different people within the same person, many different and eerily believable personalities operating from within the same mind with such an uncanny degree of both horror-movie creepiness and natural realism that it would be a CRIME that will taint the credibility of our awards forever if he isn’t at least nominated.
Also, could someone please include Thor: Ragnarok, Captain Underpants, and It in the voting center for Best Adapted Screenplay? You could say they will not get nominated, but The Snowman is already shortlisted there and I feel confident that all three of those movies have more passionate love than that trainwreck of a Fassbender vehicle, which only seems to have passionate hate.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Rosamund Pike, Hostiles

Not too many omissions for me except It in ensemble and Coco for best direction. Also, Regina Hall is my number two so I wanted her in the prediction center but I know she has no chance so it doesn’t really matter.January 2, 2018 at 7:18 am #1202453544
I don’t understand why there are no foreign language films in Best Picture. Are you trying to imply that American films are necessarily the best?January 2, 2018 at 7:20 am #1202453547
Even if this was the case (and it’s certainly not) why Happy End would be a choice in Best Picture but not in Foreign Language? It doesn’t make sense.January 2, 2018 at 7:53 am #1202453589

But First They Killed My Father is in Best Picture as well as Foreign Language and that’s almost entirely in Khmer, and there are several English-language films for BP that are not American (UK).January 2, 2018 at 8:12 am #1202453614
Everyone here seem to be either rich or getting free screeners since I think it’s way too early to vote. There’s a lot of candidates and it seems I won’t be able to vote again this year since I haven’t caught up with a lot of movies everyone’s talking about. Some of us need more time to vote (especially if we’re foreigners).
