Pretty predictable nominations overall. Happy to see La La Land leading the way, though it’s nominations are pretty inflated due to its 3 (deserving) original song noms. Ronan probably split with herself, but Joaquin proved that it can be overcome.
Also the recency bias could not be clearer.February 25, 2020 at 11:00 am #1203360042
Might as well start the campaign while people are still paying attention.

Whyyyyyyyy are we invaded by La La Land again? Gross. Gaga was above Saoirse Ronan for Actress of the Decade? Thank God the stans lost this one. Jojo Rabbit being in Screenplay is embarrassing especially over something like Beale Street. Jackie missing Score is an abomination.

Best Original Song is just so… boring and predictable.February 25, 2020 at 11:11 am #1203360062
12 Years a Slave and Birdman missing best picture..
I was shocked that Boyhood made it in picture over Birdman, as the latter did much better in terms of nominations, and I also thought that Boyhood’s popularity had waned since it first came out.February 25, 2020 at 11:12 am #1203360065
These were just as basic as I expectedFebruary 25, 2020 at 11:19 am #1203360077
Are Lupita and Joaquin the only ones to get double noms?February 25, 2020 at 11:26 am #1203360095
Are Lupita and Joaquin the only ones to get double noms?
Among actors, yes. Joqauin is also the only actor to be double nominated in the same category. Other categories had more of this though. Pasek and Paul got 4 song nominations and Emmanuel Lubezki got four cineamtography nominations.February 25, 2020 at 11:27 am #1203360099
I actually thought Boyhood was pretty much disliked around here.February 25, 2020 at 11:34 am #1203360119

PERFORMER (C’mon, no one comes even close)
Don’t care for any nominated performance
Don’t care for the rest of categories. Ensemble without Infintiy War/Endgame is invalid.February 25, 2020 at 11:37 am #1203360136
I actually thought Boyhood was pretty much disliked around here.
I wasn’t around here when it came out so I can’t know for sure. I know a lot of people including myself, loved Boyhood when they first saw it, but it seemed to me like it’s reputation wasn’t nearly as strong as it originally was. I personally wondered if Moonlight doing a similar concept shortly after might’ve caused it, as I think that film is a much more interesting example of showing our main character growing up, likely helped by the protagonist and his circumstances being more interesting.February 25, 2020 at 11:38 am #1203360138
Lol so much The Master supposedly being re appreciated.February 25, 2020 at 11:47 am #1203360178
Lol so much The Master supposedly being re appreciated.
There was limited scope to vote for it as it was ineligible in Picture, Director and Screenplay having missed all three categories at the Oscars and 2012 Goldderby awards.
Besides, the fucking Goldderby Decade Awards is not the place to look for significant reappraisals of divisive films.
