Nobody knows awards better than the experts, editors and users at Gold Derby, so we launched our own prizes for film in 2002 and for TV in 2004. Vote for your favorites in 22 categories for the Gold Derby Film Awards Nominations 2020. You can rank your top three choices in almost every category except for Best Picture, for which you can vote for five choices. You have until the end of March 7 to make or change your final selections.
You are allowed to campaign in this thread, but keep it limited. Don’t push for more than 3 films overall. DO NOT publish your ballot in this thread or compile voting totals based on other people’s ballots. Those posts will be deleted.

FYC: The only performance that matters
Actress in a Leading Role of the Year – Carey Mulligan
Performer of the Year – Carey MulliganReplyCopy URLSolidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!
February 10, 2021 at 9:14 am #1204035332YAY! The time has come. I’ll be posting my FYCs very soon. Here’s to a wonderful Gold Derby Awards!
Edit: I know we’ll most likely have to message Daniel with our minor suggestions, but please consider adding Eurovision Song Contest to Costume Design and Makeup/Hairstyling.

February 10, 2021 at 9:20 am #1204035341For your consideration:
Christopher Nolan – Tenet, DirectorHe will 100% get dropped at the oscars because they movie doesn’t fit the profile, yet there’s no denying the direction in Tenet was exceptional and very challenging. At least let’s give him a nomination here

February 10, 2021 at 9:45 am #1204035400Question, why is Minari in International Feature? GD is a subsidiary of an American company and Minari is an American film?

Because it is nominated in that category for the Golden Globes.

For which they’ve gotten weeks worth of negative discourse on the decision.
Yes, many of the people voting are international/non-American (both HFPA & GD) but both are American based organisations. Minari isn’t international feature under this aspect other than it being in a non-English language.
The Father, Promising Young Woman et al Bafta British Film submissions fit the international feature description far better than Minari is.

Also, Kajillionaire and Shirley for residual love from Madeline’s Madeline.
