A few hours after the noms came out yesterday, Pete Hammond and I had lots of fun digging in. Tune in here:

I also did a video chat with Anne Thompson and a podcast with Michael Musto. I’ll post those tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Mad Max Fury Road is a real contender, with 10 nominations it could win in February.

Rylance is not campaigning but still can win. He has won many critics awards so i think you guys are so disrespectfull to think he has no chance. really

I don’t think Leo will have any trouble with SAG. The Revenant has done extremely well these past two weeks box office wise and you know those AFTRA members who aren’t actors will pick Leo anyway since he’s all anyone been talking about regarding BA. Even when I told a co-worker of mine that I saw the film a few weeks ago the first thing I was asked about it was if Leo was finally winning.

For Rylance to be a threat he’d have to win both SAG and BAFTA, which is certainly possible, but I have a feeling that Idris Elba might be the first to win an individual SAG award without a corresponding Oscar nomination. Stallone then being the third actor to win an Oscar without a SAG nom would make a very interesting awards narrative.

”I will wait until DGA to decide my Directing prediction” Really, Pete?? What an interesting tactic.

The moments that Pete looked on camera in a silent way were creepy.

I know. It appears that this is what it’s all about.

Stallone has a lot going for him, but with no SAG and BAFTA nominations, I don’t see him as a lock like others do. His momentum could run out by February.  Rylance is a threat if he can win both, but with no campaigning, it’ll be hard for him to win.  Although Hardy has no precursor love, he is benefitted by The Revenant’s Oscar support and oscar voters love villians in this category, so that could benefit him.  If Bale wins SAG, he is a contender but with a previous Oscar win, I doubt the Academy will rush to honor him again.  Ruffalo is someone who I see winning an Oscar very soon, but not quite yet given thhat his competition has more going for them then he does.  In a weaker year, he could have been a stronger contender.  I think this category is still exciting although, although I know it could just as easily turn out boring with Stallone winning.
