The reviews are thru the roof. Some compared it to Moonlight, Euphoria. Apparently amazing ensemble. So many great performances. Can this be A24 #1 and break into BP? Great release date: November 1

91 on Metacritic. With the right push it may very well be a serious contender à la Moonlight/Lady Bird
And I’m so here for Sterling K. Brown snatching a nomAugust 31, 2019 at 6:27 pm #1203051155
Sterling K. Brown seems like a logical nominee. If only I could predict him in the prediction center…August 31, 2019 at 6:27 pm #1203051157
I saw the reactions for this last night and went straight to the prediction center to get that 100/1. Sadly, it wasn’t and still isn’t there lol.

I feel like this is at the very least a strong contender to break into Original Screenplay, and btwn this and Luce, Kelvin Harrison Jr is having a moment and I hope he gets more attention as a result.August 31, 2019 at 6:35 pm #1203051168
Thank you for this thread! I’ve been rooting for Waves and Sterling all season!August 31, 2019 at 6:35 pm #1203051169
My man is already an Emmy/Globes/CC/SAG darling. An Oscar nom would look so good on his resume damnAugust 31, 2019 at 6:57 pm #1203051185
I HEART SKB. Although his acceptance speeches tend to get a lil too serious and stiff i certainly see him as a future Oscar winner.August 31, 2019 at 11:09 pm #1203051290
WHY IS THIS NOT IN THE PREDICTION CENTER?September 1, 2019 at 12:20 am #1203051349
“It’s not happening because I decided so”
A24 has had like 10 Oscar-nominated movies since 2013, including a Best Picture win. This one could very well happen with the right pushSeptember 1, 2019 at 12:34 am #1203051384
There’s nothing obvious, none of us know what will happen. We do however know that it’s the best reviewed movie after Marriage Story so far. And it’s also going to TIFF next week, same festival that made Green Book happen.September 1, 2019 at 12:47 am #1203051408
^Because it’s not happening.
so, Cats, Gemini Man and Where’d You Go Bernadette? IS happening since they are in the prediction center? LMFAO. Waves has a 91 on Metacritic with several praise going towards the script, direction and knockout cast. I’d say it has a better shot at getting in than 85% of what currently is in the prediction center.
