What’s the precursor snub that felt like a huge red flag for the contender at the time but ended up not mattering?
For instance, the Shape of Water’s snub in SAG Ensemble was huge (and inexplicable considering it snatched
threetwo individual noms) and probably serves as the reason that 3BB was leading against Shape of Water in GD odds come Oscar day. But it ended up not mattering. On the other hand, Marriage Story’s snub in SAG Ensemble (equally inexplicable with three individual noms) was a suretell sign that the film is not going to happen at the Oscars.

August 11, 2020 at 3:59 pm #1203640599Regina snubbed by SAG and BAFTA that actually overlap with academy voters while getting in Globes and CC. Still she refused to go empty handed and took the gold.

Also the fact Blunt took SAG screamed they really wanted King in the end and didn’t care much for the other nomineesAugust 11, 2020 at 4:01 pm #1203640601it snatched three individual noms

I truly do not understand this…. No one can make me understand this.

The Shape of Water winning without a SAG Ensemble nomination.

The BAFTAs are, simply put, racist.

I’m not sure how else to explain these inexplicable snubs.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 11, 2020 at 5:42 pm #1203640814The Sting missing a Best Picture nomination at the Globes. Also no acting or directing nominations for it either. I believe this was because they couldn’t decide whether it was a comedy or a drama.
Also Marcia Gay Harden was overlooked by Golden Globes, BAFTA and SAG for Pollock but won the Oscar anyways.

Morgan Freeman missed BAFTA on all his Oscar nominations too.

None of the films he was nominated for were present at BAFTA besides Driving Miss Daisy. His snub in that case is odd.

Nominating Margot Robbie twice just to avoid nominating a person of color was a complete joke.

Especially cause she does nothing in one of those films.
