How about directors redemption too? Peter Jackson, please! I know he kind of redeemed with his documentary but I mean in terms of feature films (awards again).

Yeah, I want to see Peter Jackson deliver something great again. (I have a personal idea for what and how he could do that, but that is a very nerdy headcanon about a video game adaptation so I won’t divulge here).

I want Ang Lee to get a really good film again. Brokeback Mountain and Life of Pi are two astonishing films that he nailed in a distinctive way.

Also, Dee Rees after that Netflix movie, I don’t know what happened with that but that screams some behind the screens fuckery.

    For Your Consideration:

    Best Picture: Parasite

    Hilary Swank.

Despite good roles in Freedom Writers and The Homesman, she has not had good roles/films since her Oscar wins. Swank is still quite young and I could see her having a renaissance similar to Reneé Zellweger and hopefully getting oscar bait roles, would love to see her nominated again in the next 5 years.

    Winona Ryder.

Yes I know she has had a resurgence from Stranger things with Golden Globe / SAG nominations but she has yet to return to a leading role in a Film, would love to see her get an oscar nomination soon.

    Others: Michelle Pfeiffer, Meg Ryan

I don’t think she needs a “redemption” per se, but it’s about time keira knightley returns to the awards conversation, the lack of buzz for her performance in colette was criminal

I agree, I would love to see JLaw do something good again. Her last good film was Silver Linings Playbook imo.

I also agree that at after The Last Thing He Wanted, Dee Rees needs a redemption film.

Lindsay Lohan’s absence has gone unnoticed by mostly everyone except herself. Aside from Mean Girls, where the script and her supporting cast did the heavy lifting, what from her filmography is memorable? Where is the moment where a star was born, so to speak? If she wants to perform for cameras, she’ll stick to reality tv.

    Good call on Ang Lee.

I think that Dee Rees is just experiencing a temporary setback.

    The Parent Trap
    A Prairie Home Companion
    Freaky Friday

And her performance in “Mean Girls” was essential to the that film’s success. Let’s not go there!

Oh, we went there. Child actors make for great reality tv. The star of Mean Girls is and always has been the script. Any young female actor could have done that role.

    Marcia Gay Harden

She has an Oscar. The only thing that eludes her is an Emmy to complete the triple crown.

Jim Carrey is top of my list as he has deserved 2 Oscar noms and missed for both (Truman Show & Eturnal Sunshine).
Gwyneth Paltrow needs a 2nd nom to wipe doubt away from her Shakespeare in Love win.
Anne Hathaway nothing but disappointment since Les Miserables.
Kate Hudson nothing worthy since Almost Famous.

The person I think of the most when it comes to this is Angela Bassett. American Horror Story really saved her career and got her Emmy and Golden Globe noms but the good sis needs an awesome role that gives her Oscar buzz! If she is able to do movies like Black Panther than she can definitely get a role in a huge movie with a great cast! Love her
