I’ve never visited Clayton’s site or listened to his podcasts, but I’ve heard that he’s usually way off the mark in his predictions. AwardsWatch forum is SJW Central. Most of the regulars must be young and naive. Sasha has a meltdown on her site whenever the films/actors that she’s championing don’t win an Oscar. And her posts are usually all about race and women’s issues. I’ve browsed her site for years. And while her posts typically annoy me, it’s good to see that nowadays some users call her out on her SJW mentality.

Sasha of AD is one of those who is a race/sex/gender conscious person to a certain degree and when it suits her biases towards her fave films. She becomes quite basic when it comes to the more intersectional issues and last season had no issue constantly harping on Laurie Metcalf’s looks. She also displays it selectively. When The Rider won Best Film at Gothams, she said it only won because the voters (apparently all five on the jury) only voted for it to give a win to a woman and a POC. Then she peaced out of the FB Live stream chat of the Gothams.

I was just curious about what other awards junkies were listening to or reading during awards season! I listen to podcasts at work and at lunch all the time and was wondering if there are other sources/journalists I could listen to. I prefer videos or podcasts but I would be interested in written material as well! I’m sure a lot of us listen to the same stuff, but it would be really cool if there were other good sources that I’m missing. Here are some of my favorites: – AwardsCircuit Podcast- Clayton Davis – Tom O Neil vs Oscar Expert Showdowns- Gold Derby videos – Next Best Picture Podcast- Matt Neglia – The AwardsWatch Forum – Collider FYC videos- Scott Mantz and Co. And of course GoldDerby’s forum literally all the time every day.

I literally listen, read and watch the exact same stuff as you!

In regards to podcasts I would say my favourite is by far TheNextBestPicture, Matt Neglia’s team are insightful, humourous and much more unbigoted than Sasha Stone’s AwardsDaily podcasts. I would also suggest Indiewire’s Awards Chatter podcast with Erik Kohn and Anne Thompson.

Collider’s videos are great also, I love hearing Perri’s insight and rumblings from industry members. The banter is always fun between Perri, Jeff and Scott.

I do usually enjoy Goldderby’s videos but some experts particularly in the most recent videos who I won’t name have tarnished the analysis for me. Insensitive, abhorrent tirades against Gaga and a distasteful sexual joke made by experts was just extremely unfair, uncomfortable and unprofessional. I was very disappointed. I enjoy that Goldderby’s team of experts hold strong views and opinions but that line had been crossed by some experts.

Awards Circuit and AwardsWatch is not particularly accurate and the latter’s forum is littered with trolls. I look forward to reading Sasha Stone’s written work as its the most informative and more unbiased that her podcasts. But nonetheless, its a little frustrating to read and hear her shit on everything other than first man or follow critics like a sheep with her film opinions.
