I did a rewatch of West Side Story (2021) and it got even better in second view, I love everything about it and imo it improves so much on the original. The only problem I have is Zegler and Elgort’s lack of chemistry, if they only had a pair more believable.
With that said, they are still good. DeBose knocks out of the park and was a deserving Supporting win and Mike Faist deserved at least a nomination, he was that good, Spielberg should’ve won director and the movie is my #1 for Picture that year. Just perfect.

    Don’t pay to see this.

Entire storyline given away in title. The only thing that semi worked was the relationship between future Rama shooter boy and screaming girl.

Watched Erin Brockovich for the first time this morning. Funny and entertaining, if by-the-numbers (but that’s to be expected of such commercial fare). I loved Julia Roberts and totally understand her Oscar win. She was terrific — probably the best performance of her career. I’m puzzled as to why her performance and win are derided. Finney was also fantastic — definitely would have been worthy to win Best Supporting Actor. Having said all of this, I haven’t seen any of the other nominees. Anyway, great movie, and a perfect watch for Women’s History Month. 8/10

Exactly how I feel about it. Roberts and Finney were so captivating

    Props to Marg Helgenberger.

Watched His Girl Friday. The dialogue and pacing is so lightning-quick, it’s akin to watching a movie at 2x speed — really compelling. Only my second screwball comedy I’ve ever watched, and it’s a million times better than the disaster that is Bringing Up Baby. Grant was very good in this, as was Rosalind Russell. Watched it for its feminist themes because it’s Women’s History Month, and I definitely think it was ahead of its time. I think watching The Front Page would probably increase my admiration of the film. A great film, if severely overrated. 8/10

Atonement (2007) Can’t believe I’d never watched this before. What an amazing film. My personal pick for 2007. Pitch perfect in everything. Those typewriters! Grade: A+

Fascinating movie I was touched in my deepest heart, a beautiful ending even though the sadness in it.

P.S.; This movie made me hate Saoirse Ronan for like 2 years lmao.
