What prediction are you most proud of? I only got 71% so I didn’t have any predictions that I was proud of. But if I had to choose one of mine it would be Whiplash for editing. A good majority were going for Boyhood but I stuck with my gut and predicted Whiplash. What about you guys?February 23, 2015 at 6:37 pm #180883
I know the three shorts were the front-runners but this is the first time I got all-three shorts right so I’ll take it. I got 75% (only if I didn’t switch Citizenfour for Virunga at the last minute).February 23, 2015 at 6:39 pm #180884
Birdman’s Original Screenplay winFebruary 23, 2015 at 7:30 pm #180886
Nothing that I went out on a limb for. It was pretty nice to join the GoldDerby consensus in calling the American Sniper/Whiplash split in the Sound categories.February 23, 2015 at 7:56 pm #180887
I also have to say Whiplash for Editing. I had it there because I really wanted it to win, and when it did, I was as surprised as I was happy.

Probably Birdman winning Best Original Screenplay because I knew they couldn’t resist all that snappy dialogue and clever references.
Also I’m happy I picked Alexandre Desplat to win Best Original Score for Grand Budapest just because it was my favorite score in that category and he was so overdue. I know a lot were predicting the bland piano score from Theory of Everything so it felt nice to be right in predicting a slight upset while also having it be my favorite in the category. Big Hero 6!
How to Train Your Dragon 2 was not nominated at either BAFTA or ACE, so the perfect track records of those two nominating the Oscar winner continue.February 23, 2015 at 9:33 pm #180890
The big question is will the poster who predicted Eddie Redmayne would be snubbed at the Oscars going to show their face in this thread?Riley (the normal one, not the one who won the predictions contest)ParticipantFebruary 23, 2015 at 9:57 pm #180891
I see that you did not predict him for the win, but good job on predicting Eddie Redmayne for a nomination! That must have helped you place 2320th in predicting the nominations.February 23, 2015 at 10:02 pm #180892
Birdman in Screenplay. I knew it had to win either writing or acting if it was going to take Best Picture, not just cinematography and director.February 23, 2015 at 11:05 pm #180893
Changed to Big Hero 6 the night beforeFebruary 24, 2015 at 4:15 am #180894

The Grand Budapest Hotel for Score, which was my 500 point bet. I didn’t buy this nonsense about the Theory of Everything, and I was predicting Budapest to win way earlier in the season when it was still trailing with 100/1 odds. People weren’t listening.February 24, 2015 at 8:56 am #180897

I did the same, but for different reasons. You’re good. Maybe I should be copying your bets from now on.
