And that can be in terms of the amount of nominations it got, or just how deserving in general it was. In a lineup that included BP winner Spotlight, what film nominated for Picture was, to you, far too praised?

I thought that 2015/2016 was an especially over-praised year. I really loved Mad Max: Fury Road and The Big Short and enjoyed some of the other films, but I really think that Spotlight wasn’t great (the theme would have been much better line a decade earlier) and The Revenant was overhyped – Leonardo was great, but Iñárritu shouldn’t have won over McKay and Miller.

I thought that The Big Short was just okay.

Boyhood. Still satisfying to see it lose almost everything.

    Oops…Well in that case.

The Sears rip off version of Singing in the Rain. La La Land.

Still wrong year. Try the one in between, the year Spotlight won. (Though I do agree with your opinions on La La Land).

Hands down The Revenant. One of the most over-hyped things i’ve ever seen.

The Tree of Life, Selma, Boyhood, Spotlight, Manchester by-the-Sea, Moonlight, and Call Me By Your Name all stand out. I would also say Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close but I don’t think that was very overpraised to begin with.

Funny, Mad Max and Big Short were the only films I deeply loved from the Best Picture lineup of that Oscar year as well.

Mad Max: The Road Warrior, er, Mad Max: Fury Road. Since it’s pretty much a straight reboot. Six Oscars to THIS? And none to The Force Awakens, the most popular film of its time at the time, and 92% Rotten Tomatoes critics support?

2011 says hi. The Artist alone gave this year an F-minus.
