Loved Whoopi Goldberg’s reaction to her win. She seemed very genuine.

Michael Caine’s win for Cider House was a bad pick for a nothing performance but his speech was still the most humble and gracious one I’ve seen

Cate Blanchett’s win for Blue Jasmine: “You’re too old to be standing!” But her speech at the SAG awards was even better. “Thank you to those who voted for me; for those who didn’t better luck next time.”

Perfect ways to accept awards for such an iconic and deserving performance!

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

Halle Berry’s acceptance speech was one for the record books. Will always be an all-time favorite of mine!

Isn’t anyone going to mention Sally Field’s hilarious “You like me! You really like me” speech? 😂😂

Meryl Streep, Sophie’s Choice very funny. She drops her speech then notices it on the floor. Goes back to pick it up (all complicated by her being very pregnant)and Sylvester Stallone offers to take it from her. (He must have thought she was just really neat and didn’t like seeing garbage on the stage.)

After knowing the true meaning behind it, I feel like it’s not hilarious at all, but still iconic. It’s more like her way to show her gratitude of being received and not underestimated although she had been a joke before for portraying a flying nun. Both her wins were deserved though..svg” class=”emoji”

Plus it is always misquoted she never said the “you really like me part” just you like me (twice.)

Her first Oscar and Emmy experiences were made a bit difficult because of Burt Reynolds. She describes in her bio a very depressing scenario of how he convinced/demanded she join him in Santa Barbara or some place like that not too far away from L.A. while he was filming. She inexplicably obeyed and sat alone in a hotel room watching her Emmy win for Sybil which should have been a career altering night for her.

The Oscars were the same thing the first time. She and Reynolds two co-stars from Starting Over (Jill Clayburgh, Candice Bergen) were nominated and he wasn’t. He wouldn’t go to the ceremony with her. I think the second Oscar was the first time she won something and actually was happy but it turned into such a joke that she never could live down. I think Johnny Carson was responsible for making it a running joke. He was another man she dated briefly and then gave her a hard time.

I’ll second The Silent Child‘s acceptance speech, part of which was signed in, what I assume was, BSL (as it’s British, not American).

Meryl’s third Oscar where she starts off with:

“Oh my god. Oh c’mon. Alright. Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you. When they called my name I’d had this feeling I could hear half of America going ‘oh no…oh c’mon…why…her…again?’ But whatever.”

Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series: Kathryn Hahn (WandaVision)

I agree about Blanchett’s speech: “The world is round, people!”

But I also have 2 other favorites:
    – Shirley MacLaine with that iconic ending: “I deserve this!”
    – Cher: “I don’t know if this means I’m somebody, but I guess I’m on my way”

Hands down Bong Joon-ho for Director, almost making the great Martin Scorsese cry. Olivia Colman would be a close second to me. Sometimes these unprepared speeches are the most earnest and heartfelt.
