Hey everyone! We’re officially one month away from the nominations for the Gold Derby Awards! I know that “movie season” isn’t over yet – and that there are many more good films to come – but now would be a great time to start listing some of the films that you’ll be nominating.

Important note: please only list films that you’ve actually seen so far – no speculating. Cheers!

A couple of Canadian films, Parasite, and The Farewell, plus everything to do with The Farewell. Lulu Wang, ensemble, screenplay, and especially Awkwafina. My soul mate in this film. Right there with her all the way.
And Toy Story 4, to try to balance out Frostbite 2. Marriage Story and Joker don’t need any help.
Oh, and Robbie Robertson, Roger Deakins, Thomas Newman, Sandy Powell, Clint Eastwood mainly to be an irritant, and Robert Eggers.

Aside from some faves of mine on track to get Oscar love, I’m also gonna push for Midsommar, Luce, Us and Knives Out. Oh, and of course, Avengers: Endgame.

I just love movies. And awards.

Probably just spamming Weathering With You in irrelevant categories. Actress? Sure, there was nice voice acting.

Seriously though, probably a lot of The Lighthouse and Parasite, with only mild Weathering With You spam. The Irishman will show up.

    For Your Consideration:

Best Picture: Weathering With You, Parasite, The Lighthouse
Best Supporting Actor: Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
Best Animated Feature: Weathering With You, Promare
Best International Film: Weathering With You, Parasite

The ones I’m sure I’ll be nominating:

    Picture- Parasite, The Farewell, OUATIH
    Director- Bong, Wang, Tarantino, Aster
Actor- Driver, Phoenix, Harrison Jr. (Luce), DiCaprio
    Actress- Pugh (Midsommar), Awkwafina
    S. Actor- Pitt, Song
    S. Actress- Shuzen, Lin, Park So-dam, Cho Yeo-jeong, Johansson (Jojo)
    O. Screenplay- Parasite, The Farewell, OUATIH, Knives Out
    A. Screenplay- Jojo Rabbit

You might get the picture, Parasite and The Farewell are gonna be everywhere.

My personal Top 5 of 2019 so far:
    1) Parasite 2) The Farewell 3) Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 4) The Irishman 5) Knives Out

Oh. Only films I’ve actually seen yet. Yeesh, there go half my probable nominations.

Harriet: Best Actress – Cynthia Erivo

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World: Best Animated Picture

Avengers: Endgame: Best Visual Effects (Also maybe Captain Marvel).

Look, guys, I don’t watch movies in theaters very often. And the stuff I want to see isn’t on Redbox or Netflix or Amazon Prime yet.

Haven’t seen most of the movies I think will populate my nominations (Marriage Story, Parasite, Bombshell), but as of now I’ll have the Lighthouse virtually everywhere. Criminally underrated movie.
