After a six year hiatus from acting, Renée Zellweger came back stronger than ever in 2019 and swept through awards season with her performance as Judy Garland in Judy, winning the Golden Globe, SAG, Critics Choice, BAFTA, and a second Oscar (this time for Best Actress).

What do you believe is the next chapter of the Renéeissance?
I would personally love to see her in another major movie musical (someone recently suggested her as Mrs. Wormwood in the upcoming Matilda adaptation and I would be HERE for it)

I don’t mean to be rude but I don’t see her coming back to the game at all, feels like judy is her moment and that’s it

    Hope Hollywood proves me wrong

She’s gonna take a year and sip some tea and meditate and read a few good books, then come back for a non-biopic in which she plays a neurotic character similar to Jasmine.

    Nothing.

    She’ll fade into obscurity thankfully.

I don’t agree she’s stronger than ever. Her trifecta in early 2000s was her peak. Her winning another Oscar, Best Actress at that, would be unthinkable just a few years ago. She’s one of my favorites so I wish her good roles in good films but it’s hard. Maybe now when she won she’ll be hired more often.

    The fact is this…

Renee will be exactly like Swank, just with half the talent. Both ended up with two Oscars but neither will have done anything of merit ever again. Renee was lucky to get that What/If role (she was a disaster in that) and maybe she could do one of those Lifetime films about a daughter being kidnapped or a creepy stalker neighbor. But you will never see her accepting an award for anything again.

    Thank goodness.

I mean, is Frances McDormand exploding? No. For Oscar to make u career u need to be young and hot. Renee is hot but not young anymore and Hollywood isn’t interested in that. She’s definitely getting calls and we’re definitely going to see her in solid roles anytime soon, roles unlike that SJP movie flop, the other flop with Keanu Reeves and that other flop with Greg Kinnear. But she’s not going to do huge things. Wish her the best though and the fact that she won for such a small movie people barely watched over much more popular actresses than her from stronger movies is outstanding.

She beat Scarlett fair and square. Don’t be a baby.

If you win two Oscars, you’re past the point of obscurity. People bring up how Hillary Swank wasn’t able to get big despite her two Oscar wins, but they still bring her up.
