My vote goes to Cate Blanchett.August 3, 2019 at 1:50 pm #1203008801
Youth was probably Fonda’s last chance, and the rest of her career seems to be too comedy-focused.
Close and Winslet were probably second-place to win each of the last times they were nominated, so have a lot of good will going forward.
I would hope that Jessica Lange at 6 has another chance to be nominated.August 15, 2019 at 11:05 am #1203025278
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Now that Bernadette seems to be a potential flop, and Blanchett herself receives lukewarm reviews, some criticism, could she still snag an 8th before anyone else? I think the only thing that can save her right now is that Lucille Ball biopic with Aaron Sorkin!</p>August 15, 2019 at 11:35 am #1203025290
Close will likely get her 8th nomination next year for either Hillbilly Elegy or Sunset, and Adams will likely get her 7th nomination next year for Woman in the Window or Hillbilly Elegy. I would say Blanchett is on the heels of Close with Lucy and Desi coming up, but I don’t think any dates are finalized yet.August 15, 2019 at 8:04 pm #1203025843
When does Hillbilly Elegy come out? IMDb says it is already in post-production. Could it come out this year?August 16, 2019 at 9:33 am #1203026477
Blanchett’s movie is getting stellar reviews for her performance. Looks like she’ll fulfill the prophecy. But Glenn Close will definitely lock her own 8th nod overall soon.August 20, 2019 at 2:43 pm #1203032255
The Woman in the Window has just been delayed to May 2020.August 20, 2019 at 2:54 pm #1203032285
blanchett’s proven with golden age that she can get in even with a critically panned movie, but there’s really just no buzz at all for bernadetteAugust 20, 2019 at 3:04 pm #1203032311
If Lucy and Desi comes out next year, Cate will definitely pick up her 8th nomination and has a major chance to win.
Glenn is a lock for Hillbilly Elegy and potentially for Sunset Boulevard if it for sure comes out next year.August 20, 2019 at 6:15 pm #1203032606
Blanchett has been in a dry spell for 4 years. She has been in movies that were poorly received or flopped box offices (discounting Ragnarok). I honestly thought Bernadette was the right movie for her with fantastic and director, but nope…August 20, 2019 at 6:19 pm #1203032620
Blanchett is probably getting in next year for Nightmare Alley, so I guess both her and Close (for Hillbilly Elegy) are getting their 8th nominations next year. Close is also filming another project next month, so I doubt she’s able to start filming Sunset Boulevard in October (plus no one else has been cast).

She’ll easily come back next year. Bernadette is a minor misfire, something that literally happens to every single actor
Plus she’s legit been doing fine since Carol. One Marvel movie, a cute successful comedy flick, a successful fantasy horror movie, a successful animation movie etc.
