Ruth Negga not getting nominated for Passing is a travesty. Dench getting in is the exact reason Streep has 20+ nominations when in reality she has 10 nominations too many! Whoever wins supporting, Negga clearly gave a better performance than that person!

this Biggest clear opportunity now is Taraji, She will likely compete for Supporting actress for her role in the Color Purple 2023. I would love to see Harris, Monique and Ellis find roles to compete with soon.

While I don’t think they’ll be the next, I can see Zendaya getting two noms before he decades over (Dune 2, Guadagnino tennis film, A24’s Ronnie biopic all seem promising)

lol I knew someone would say Zendaya. She would have to get a 1st nom before we even discuss the possibility of a 2nd one. Come on now…

Most likely Regina King next year for Shirley. Then the year after that, Taraji P. Henson for The Color Purple. She has a pretty good role there.

Definitely Regina King and Taraji P. Henson. I can see Zendaya getting nominations in this decade though.

Easily it’s Cynthia Erivo and she could win

    Anticipate "Hold My hand".

The way Dame Dench said “Go, Go Now” in that final scene was fantastic. It reminded us who the legend is and her performance made me feel emotional over how lonely old people can be. I was praying for her to land a nomination all season.

I know everyone is high on her cos of her overdue narrative, but Kirsten Dunst did nothing award worthy in Dog. Dunst and Ellis are easily mediocre nominees.

Ruth Negga was truly the best and should have replaced one of those two….especially Ellis who only had 0ne good scene in Richard

Not sure why we’re blaming Dench for Negga missing when clearly Buckley took her spot..

Anyway, I do think Negga, Nyong’o, and King make the most sense in answer to the question. Nyong’o isn’t often cast the way she deserves to be, but when her next hit really lands, I wouldn’t bet against her. She just barely missed with Us.
