Surprised by a couple of these picks and a couple of omissions but went with PTA.

I went with PTA but my first thought was the omitted David Lynch.

I do want to give a shout out to Spike Lee who should’ve been nominated and won for directing DO THE RIGHT THING and MALCOLM X.

Also, Wes Anderson would be high up there.

    Where is George Lucas?
It is a shame that you only include american directors.

And definitely, i know is impossible now but Kubrick, Hitchock, Fellini, Bergman… all of them deserved one.

    Godard lol

Went with Lee, though I’m incredibly fond of both Andersons and a variable fan of Fincher’s.

    Other: Asghar Farhadi

    FYC:

"The Good Fight" and "The Other Two" in all categories.

David Fincher has been making classics since 1995.

He has to be the number one “most overdue filmmaker”.

Greta Gerwig has literally 2 films she’s not overdue for anything, Park Chan-wook, Claire Denis, David Lynch, Lynne Ramsay, Michael Haneke, Alexander Payne are all way more overdue

Should have won for The Social Network.

She’s 92 so it’s not going to happen, but Lina Wertmüller should have received an Academy Award as Best Director for at least one of the following—- Seven Beauties, The Seduction of Mimi, Love and Anarchy and/or Swept Away. She received an honorary Oscar in 2019, but as Peter O’Toole noted, honorary Oscars are not the same as “real” ones awarded in competition.

    I voted for PTA.

I think Tarantino’s final project will secure him the Oscar for Best Director.

    Movie-lover overall.
