Everybody in these forums is always gushing about the Oscar nominees they love. Screw that. Which one(s) do you really, really HATE?
Please spew forth your filthy venom.February 1, 2014 at 12:34 pm #137452

Christian Bale. His nomination should have gone to Hanks, Redford, Whittaker or Jordan.
Amy Adams. Her nomination should have gone to Emma Thompson.
Jennifer Lawrence. Her nomination should have gone to any other actress on the planet.
Bradley Cooper. His nomination should have gone to either McConaughey in Mud or Farrell in Saving Mr. Banks.
-signed NOT a fan of American Hustle..

I admire Matt McC… and Jared Leto’s performances in DBC, but I am extremely irritated by the film’s nominations for Editing, Original Screenplay, and Picture. I would much rather see Thelma Schoonmaker for WOWS in Editing, Fruitvale Station/Gravity in Screenplay, and Fruitvale/Lllewyn Davis/Blue Jasmine/Frozen/Rush/Before Midnight for Picture.February 1, 2014 at 12:47 pm #137455
Streep, her performance was good. But enough is enough.
Amy Adams was horrible, no, just no.
Fassbender did nothing, nothing. Still managed to steal a spot that could’ve gone to either Jake Gylenhaal, Ryan Gosling, Farrel, Chris Cooper and many other deserving contenders.

Christian Bale – American Hustle over Tom Hanks – Captain Phillips
One of them is Queen Latifah – Chicago (WTF?)February 1, 2014 at 12:50 pm #137457
- Lone Ranger getting in instead of Pacific Rim for Visual Effects.
- Lone Ranger and Bad Grandpa in Makeup
- The Croods in Animated Feature
- Sandra Bullock in Best Actress (let the hate replies ensue)
- “Alone, Yet Not Alone” in Original Song (glad it’s revoked, though)
FYC: Ready Player One. Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, Original Score, Production Design, Director and BEST PICTURE (make it happen Oscars!!)February 1, 2014 at 12:53 pm #137458

Yes, it’s a crime that she wasn’t nominated. The editing was out-of-this-world rollicking. I guess the reason it didn’t make it because the film is over 3 hour long. But that’s not her fault. That could be dictated by Scorsese. But scene by scene, riveting. Not a visual dull moment in the whole 3 hours.
Yes, the DBC love was just too much.February 1, 2014 at 12:55 pm #137459
One of my most hated nominations ever is Exteremely Loud and Incredibly Close for Best Picture over Bridesmaids, DRIVE, and The Girl w/ The Dragon Tatoo. Really, Academy?!?!?February 1, 2014 at 12:56 pm #137460
Lupita Nyong’o and Christian Bale.February 1, 2014 at 12:58 pm #137461
I would’ve put Hanks in over Bale, and Paulson in over Nyong’o, without a doubt.
Sarah Paulson was robbed this year.February 1, 2014 at 12:58 pm #137462
A lot of Christian Bale hate here. I agree that he took the last slot in a derby overflowing with INCREDIBLE talent. But am I the only one who thought he was the standout of American Hustle?
Although, I do agree the last couple of scenes in Captain Phillips were a MASTERCLASS in acting. Maybe his best work ever.February 1, 2014 at 1:03 pm #137463
Michelle Williams in My Week With Marilyn over Kirsten Dunst in Melancholia or Tilda Swinton in We Need To Talk About Kevin.
Bradley Cooper over Daniel Bruhl.February 1, 2014 at 1:17 pm #137464
I know it’s been said elsewhere but it needs to be said again for lazy voting. Meryl “bloody” Streep. It’s ridiculous. Once again Weinstein and company pulled a dick move (Yes, the Walt Disney speech as it was reported…just like their ‘rule-bending’ mass email two years ago should have led to public complaints and maybe even a disqualification), and once again Meryl benefited. Poor Thompson didn’t stand a chance. Poor other actresses didn’t have a prayer to get nominated.February 1, 2014 at 1:17 pm #137465
Amy Adams over Emma Thompson. I adore Amy and want her to win some year, but this year, given how competitive the best actress race was …a just okay-performance with nothing really outstanding had nothing to do against the thunderous, flashy and radiating Emma Thompson’s one. If Adams is in it was just because she was dragged by the Hustle overrated hype and nothing more.
Bradley Cooper had nothing to do in supporting too, again as Adams he was just okay, but the category this year wasn’t so competitive so I don’t care very much.
