Which two-time actress winner will be next to win a third Oscar? Only three actresses have ever accomplished this feat (Katharine Hepburn with 4, Ingrid Bergman with 3, Meryl Streep with 3).
Here are the 10 living ladies that are eligible for this possibility (although two are retired):
Olivia de Havilland
Dianne WiestMay 25, 2016 at 9:19 pm #1201841166
Pretty obvious answer – Blanchett! She could even win in two years with the new Linklater film.
Foster could win, but for something other than acting.
Dame Maggie Smith needs to do a Downton Abbey-type of supporting role soon.May 25, 2016 at 9:53 pm #1201841176
Jessica Lange for her Gia Coppola vehicle. Cate Blanchett is an inevitability between now and her tenth and eleventh nominations.May 26, 2016 at 12:11 am #1201841195
Maggie Smith needs to win again. It’s ridiculous that she hasn’t won for nearly 40 years.
FYC Gold Derby TV Awards Performer of the Year: Michelle DockeryMay 26, 2016 at 12:50 am #1201841196
I’d like to see Jane Fonda and especially Sally Field win again.
As for next the logical answer is Cate Blanchett. She’ll get another eventually.May 26, 2016 at 12:55 am #1201841197
Yeah, Blanchett is the no-brainer here.
Fonda, Field, Swank, Lange, Smith or even Foster could have one more Oscar in the cards but that would take an unexpected stroke of luck.May 26, 2016 at 1:25 am #1201841201
Jessica Lange in “Lonely Doll”May 26, 2016 at 4:35 am #1201841240
Olivia de Havilland. She’s not that old, not even 100 yet.May 26, 2016 at 6:44 am #1201841264
Lets go Swank. 3 for 3. 🙂May 26, 2016 at 7:18 am #1201841270
Besides De Havilland (retired), Jackson (retired, at least from the film industry) and Wiest (unlikely to attract beefy film roles), I can honestly fathom all of these women taking home a third Oscar. My hunch, however, is only Blanchett will ultimately do it.

I think it’s more likely that Jennifer Lawrence wins her second and third before any woman with two already wins their third.May 26, 2016 at 8:59 am #1201841320
My guess is Blanchett but I wouldn’t underestimate Swank or Field.May 26, 2016 at 11:45 am #1201841415
Cate Blanchett or Jessica Lange but I could see Sally or Maggie getting one for a supporting role.May 26, 2016 at 12:13 pm #1201841419
I think it’s more likely that Jennifer Lawrence wins her second and third before any woman with two already wins their third.
No. She can wait on her inevitable second before she can join this conversation. There maybe backlash once she wins the second. She has been holding off potential backlash since she went head to head with Lupita.
